Went here for the first time today. Ordered the fried chicken and the fried catfish. Both were very well seasoned and crispy. For the sides I got the candied yams, rice, Mac n cheese, and dressing (stuffing) all of which were very good. Here’s a big boy tip, take the cornbread and dip it in the candied yam syrup, so good! Would be nice if there were more tables to eat.

In town for work and found this place by driving by. Came next day and ordered the fried chicken combo and catfish combo. Both combos come with three meats, two sides and cornbread.

Catfish was fried to perfection and seasoned perfect. That greedy spirit kicked in as soon as I got in the car and I ate one piece of fish before I made it back.

Fried chicken was very good and crunch. It was fresh like the fish straight out the grease but it was still very good and didn’t get soggy from being in the box.

The sides were mac and cheese, collard greens twice and yams. The Mac and cheese had really good taste but the noodles were over done. The yams was missing something like a pinch of something or a toe drop I dont know but they were still good. The greens has good taste but also was missing something. Doesn’t seem like they use a meat in the greens maybe that’s whats missing.

Got the strawberry crunch cake and that too was very good. I had to put it away before I hurt myself from glut.

I’ll be back and I recommend.

Saw them on instagram so I had to try it. Atmosphere is ok kind of small but cute and cozy. They don’t take phone orders. However, they do have DoorDash but the menu is extremely limited mostly dessert. Therefore, I had to go inside.

Welp I went around 1pm and it was packed. Took an hour to get 2 deep fried catfish orders and 2 pieces of chicken. The deep fried catfish was majority skin no meat but seasoned very well. The chicken was as well. Now let’s get into the sides. I had Mac and cheese which was kind of dry and greens which had no flavor at all. Overall, I’ll go just for meat and sides I’ll definitely go elsewhere. Unless, it was just a bad day because they were extremely busy.

I stumbled across Patty Cake’s Cobbler & Fried Chicken from a post on social media. I immediately checked out the reviews on Google and made a visit.
I ordered the fried catfish with two sides, desert and the kool-aide slushy.
Little to my surprise, there was a line out the door upon arrival and it did take awhile for my order to be completed. Although, the wait was a bit long, the owners made it clear, she wasn’t sacrificing the quality of her food for a rushed meal. From that statement, I knew she was in this business for the right reason and the food DIDN’T DISAPPOINT!
The fish was hot, crispy, crunchy and not greasy. The sides were definitely made with care and complimented the fish.
The desert (honey bun cake)was out of this world. It was a nice blend without being overly sweet with loads of sugar.
I’m really happy that alI found Patty Cake’s Cobbler and will be making another visit.
Thank you for the great experience and nice service.

Cons: for first timers they welcome you by ringing a bell. One of the workers sitting off to the side said yay very dry/sarcastically. Not upsetting by any means. Suggestion: maybe eighty-six the bell altogether or get new hype men. Last Con. I was told with the fried chicken meal tht I could only get it 2 wings and a drumstick and tht I couldn’t do all wings. Not everyone who likes fried chicken will eat dark meat. I’m one of them. Reall, was it so hard to substitute a drumstick for a wing? But I was recommended to order the sampler tht cost $2 more than the 3pc chkn, but only came w/ 2pcs. Tht was the best option.
Pros: The food was good (all but the red beans & rice) I enjoyed everything I ordered. Just would like it if they would reconsider the all wings situation; again not all of us eat dark meat. I recommend this place. Would I come back. Unsure. I live in the I.E. and just happened to be in the neighborhood this particular day, and barely ever drive down LA County

The food was excellent. I wasn’t a huge fan of the pancake style cornbread. BUT I’m still giving 5 stars because everything else was delicious. The chicken was nice and crunchy. The candy yams were 10 stars. And the strawberry crunch cake was heavenly. I’ll definitely be returning.

I’ve been wanting to try this soul food restaurant for awhile… ordered a sampler plate which was a piece of catfish, a piece of fried chicken, and 4 sampler sides. I got the red beans and rice, candied yams, greens, and mac n cheese! The catfish was absolutely delicious and so was the fried chicken, perfectly seasoned and crispy with the inside moist and yummy. I really loved the red beans and rice, and the yams. The greens and the mac and cheese were good. For dessert… I ordered the peach cobbler and a chocolate chip cookie… both were so delicious!

The young lady that took my order was very cheerful and kind. Also, the prices were very fair and not expensive (especially considering the quality and taste of the food)!

I was definitely satisfied and will truly go back for more….

Thank you Patty’s Cakes
5+ Stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a small, quaint restaurant nestled behind a Denny’s restaurant. The decor makes you feel at home like you’re visiting your mama’s kitchen I was greeted with a kind smile and informed the young lady I was picking up my order. The way she said “Bobby’s
here” made me feel like they knew me and were eager to present me with my phone order. The young lady making my plates made sure to ask me if I needed any condiments and handed me my
order with a warm smile. The cashier showed me the cakes and other baked goodies that looked, absolutely delicious. I will be trying some on my next visit when coming from Orange County.

The Catfish was crispy and cooked to perfection. Perfect amount of seasoning.
The Greens were well-cooked and also had a nice flavor. Packaging the Greens in a separate container was a good touch and shows you care about the presentation of your product.

I also had the pleasure of indulging in the Mac and Cheese. Let me tell you, I rarely eat Mac and Cheese from restaurants. Not even African American Soul Food establishments, but this restaurant’s Mac and cheese was so good. Definitely will be a go-to in my future orders.

The cornbread pancakes were an
additional surprise and something I had never tried before. The only 2 things I added when I got home
were butter for the pancake-cornbread and lemon juice for the Catfish.

The two combos came to less than $40 and were well worth it.

Can’t wait to try other menu items on
my next visit to Lakewood, Ca.

Whoever was the cashier tonight was super energetic and welcoming! I really appreciated that! One of the best Strawberry Shortcake Cheesecakes I’ve ever had. Nice crunch. Cake isn’t too sweet, and that cheesecake layer compliments the cake so well. Catfish and Fried Chicken was seasoned well and had a nice crunch. Chicken and catfish was tender. I just feel like it could have used some spice in the seasoning. I like how they seasoned the Mac n cheese with pepper. Collard greens were hearty and had a nice vinegar taste to it. The packets of hot sauce went elevated my chicken and catfish. Slightly sweet cornbread. Overall, I’ll be back to try the smothered chicken. I spent just over $29 before taxes and tips.

All I can say is WOW!
This is probably the best chicken I have ever had! Way better than Popeyes or Kfc for sure!
The dish that I got was $ 20 and it came with 4 sides and a huge cornbread! I chose potato salad, home made mac& cheese, sweet potatoes & stuffing!
I am STUFFED!
It was served with a smile from her hard working staff.
Im surprised there’s not a line out the door! Her food is delicious!!
I will definitely be back!
Yummy!!
