In the early 1900s, working in the Salumerias of Little Italy, Pasquale “Patsy” Lancieri perfected New York Style Pizza. In 1933, he opened the city’s first Pizzeria Restaurant, establishing himself as New York’s foremost pizza baker and inspiring scores of imitators. Over 60 years later, Patsy’s Pizzerias still proudly serves his famous recipe of traditional New York Style Thin-Crust Brick Oven Pizza throughout the city and is regarded as one of New York’s Original Brick Oven Pizzerias.

We miss Patsy‘s down by university place, where we went as a regular in the past before it closed down. I was craving authentic Brick Oven Pizza. One of the best brick oven pizzas outside of Italy. We also had LINGUINE FRA DIAVOLO AI FRUTTI DI MARE. It was incredible and has a kick.

The atmosphere was quite rushed with staff and manager running around. The shrimp scampi was a tad a bit oily. The grilled vegetables were drizzled with lemon, but the broccoli was surprisingly bland. The pizza and salad were fairly light.

Eggplant Parm was pretty good. The white pie pizza HUGE miss for $25. Had no flavor, would’ve rather the crust more. Had to add salt, black pepper, red pepper, parm for it to be edible.

The staff treated us with respect, and the food—salmon and chicken—was delicious. The salmon was cooked just the way I wanted it: well done! The outdoor seating or the upper floor might have a better view, but the ground floor doesn’t offer anything special, so it’s best to just enjoy your meal 🙂

Went here for the first time with some family. We ordered the margarita pizza to start and then I had spaghetti and meatballs for my entree. The pizza was delicious! The crust was nice and thin and the sauce and cheese were delicious. The spaghetti and meatballs were very good! Just a personal preference I would have def liked the pasta more aldente and less sauce. The staff was super friendly and nice. Will def be back!

We really enjoyed our meal here. My little Italian daughters also were floored by the square pizza. The dish is a classic and it was made well. Everything tasted fresh and made to order. It was exactly what we needed after a long day of walking! We’d highly recommend coming here to eat! I think my only wish would have been to have had more options for toppings.

Just a really nice neighborhood pizza place serving up solid pies in a nice relaxed space. We ordered a pepperoni on our visit and it was delicious as were the zucchini crisps we ordered to start. I’d skip dessert next time though – the tiramisu was just average.

Patsy’s Pizzeria, an institution in the tapestry of New York’s culinary scene, offers an authentic slice of the city’s storied pizza heritage. With an ambiance that harkens back to the timeless charm of Old New York, Patsy’s provides a crust that crackles with history in every bite.

The pizza, a harmonious blend of charred edges and robust sauce, speaks to the soul of those who seek the comfort of traditional flavors. A four-star pie, indeed, that tantalizingly flirts with perfection, but leaves just enough room for the imagination on what a celestial fifth star could taste like.

However, during the hustle of peak hours, one might find themselves adrift in the sea of bustling tables, the staff navigating the tides of an overfilled room. It’s a place where patience must be a virtue, service a casualty to success. Your glass may remain half-empty, a silent plea for attention amidst the clamor.

Despite this, Patsy’s remains a stalwart, a testament to the enduring love affair between New Yorkers and their pizza. A three-star experience not because of culinary shortcomings, but because even the warmest of ovens can’t always extend their heat to the touch of human service.
