Unfortunately, I checked only the cumulative rating, which was not bad (4.2), and read the individual reviews only once ordered.
The first warning sign was that we were the only guests. Okay, it was lunchtime and was very cold outside, but it was Saturday and the place is big…
There is dichotomy in the reviews. The ones dating back couple of years praise the place, while the latest ones are complaining about food quality.
Unfortunately, I can confirm the latter ones. We ordered 2 soups, 1 hot and sour which was mediocre but edible, and my wife asked for the coconut one and it was way too sweet and she couldn’t eat it (I tasted too and she was right).
Then we had a basic entree, the Pad Thai and it was the worst Pad Thai ever tasted. It was lacking any vegetables, had only 3 shrimps in it and was also too sweet and oily (see pic).
The service was good, our waitress was kind and didn’t charge for the coconut soup (even without asking) after we complained.
It’s a shame for the restaurant because it is in the center of Belmont, nice inside, has sufficient parking spots… but the food was a great deception…

Patou used to be one of our favorite Thai restaurants when we visit my mother in Arlington but this last visit was disappointing. We placed a take out order at the register. I ordered the Salmon Special. The fish was burned and the portion was small. We also ordered a pork dish but got chicken instead. I had forgotten they don’t include rice and the person who took our order never asked if we wanted rice so two of us had dishes better served on rice, but without. We ordered at the restaurant, which wasn’t crowded at 4:30 on Sunday but the order took 40 minutes. It seemed like one person was covering the register and acting as server. I’m guessing there may have only been one person in the kitchen as well.

This is the first time that I’ve been here and also the first time I walked out of restaurant that fast.

I ordered papaya salad, pad Thai and fried rice.

I ordered the papaya salad with medium spicy. It came out with no chilli in sight and not spicy at all. Besides that, the taste was nothing but disappointing. I finished anyways because it’s $16.

The pad Thai was straight sugar and oily. That’s all it tasted like, i tried to down one more bite but I couldn’t do it. The egg in the pad Thai was fried and boarder lime burnt. I immediately just order the check and leave.

The fried rice was also super sweet for some reasons and very oily.

We were planning to order some to go for some people at home. But I was like immediately not.

This place is not cheap at all so I do not recommend people who actually love Thai food to come into this place, I will not go back myself.

We had reservations for 5:45 on a cold Saturday night. Because of the cold, they seated us in the back room where it would be warmer. One waitress for three rooms! We did not get our food for an hour and 15 minutes. Then the waitress punished me by making me wait another 5 minutes after serving everyone else in our party, because I asked when we were going to get our food! Though the food was excellent, we will never go there again. Today, one of our party of four said we should have left after the first half hour and gone three doors down the street for pizza!

Good food but portions could be just a bit bigger and with more vegetables.

Prices are reasonable and chef or owner is known by repeat customers.
Outdoor patio available on front street. Indoor seating is plentiful.
They stayed open for us to finish after the served us quickly on the cusp of closing.

Park at back, the back entrance is unlocked!

Fried banane dessert is a bit light.

We just had one of those meals that we shall remember for a long time. The restaurant atmosphere is very nice with cloth napkins and fresh paper table clothes. The water has a very clean taste with plenty of ice. We started off with the three roll combo which was good. We ordered the vegetable fried rice which had a great flavor and we learned of the extra hidden white pepper technique, my wife had the tofu flat rice noodles with vegetables dish that had so much flavor that I wanted more myself. I had hot beef platter that had tofu and vegetables cooked perfectly. One of the owners (Dan) paid is a visit and we chatted for a bit. Seventeen years in business “We have to cook a lot of rice to pay for the space” We all laughed so loud, great time with Dan. This was our best meal since moving to the area. We can suggest Patou Thai at our highest recommendation if you want delicious food and amazing service.

The atmosphere is laid back yet elegant. The food is great and service prompt. The portions are decent and lunch prices are great. They also have a surprisingly nice selection of beer and wine moderately priced. Overall it’s a great place to done in Belmont!

Hooked on Thai I don’t think I’ll ever eat Chinese again. The hot and sour soup had 3 regular shrimp, plus Shiitake, and regular mushrooms and cilantro. So yummy. Then shrimp and scallops Pad Thai. I’d give it a 5 but service is slow. Food is excellent.

Food and service was great, although I wish they had more vegetarian menu options. I was going to order their vegetable curry, but it had fish sauce, which made it non-vegetarian. This was further confusing because it was under a section of their menu titled ‘vegetarian’. The waitress mentioned we will have to get green curry to get something vegetarian, although we did not see that item on their menu. The actual dish was very good although I think the restaurant can be better with their vegetarian options and communication.
