Social Profile:

Pâtisserie and restaurant in Carmel, California Fifty-five years ago, Elaine and Pierre Boissiere established this legendary restaurant at its current location, years before the Carmel Plaza shopping center was built. The couple sought to offer the city of Carmel by the Sea a relaxing and comforting venue modeled after a European chateau where tables are thoughtfully spaced and fresh flowers, fireplace, candles and soothing musical notes are integral parts of the dining experience. The ambience set the tone for French country food served with a great deal of care and for authentic French pastries baked daily in the kitchen above the restaurant

French country dishes & wine, plus pastries & espresso are served in quaint, chateau-style environs.

We just ate a fabulous lunch here. We started with a lovely French Onion soup as a starter. Then we moved on to our entrees. My wife had the chicken pot pie and I had a shepherd’s pie. We will debate for some time which was better but they were both excellent. Our server was spot on with just enough attention to make us feel pampered but not overwhelmed. A really enjoyable lunch and we will most certainly return for more of that great French Onion soup…

During my visit to Carmel by the Sea, I had the pleasure of having lunch at Patisserie Boissiere Restaurant. The ambience of the place was cozy and relaxed, attracting individuals who are looking to savor life’s pleasures. Accompanied by my sister, we indulged in a truly delightful meal consisting of sautéed prawns and chicken pot pie. The flavors were exceptional, leaving us thoroughly satisfied. Additionally, the overall atmosphere of the restaurant added to the enjoyment of our dining experience. Patisserie Boissiere Restaurant is a wonderful choice for a delicious and inviting lunch in Carmel by the Sea.

Finding a good French restaurant is not an easy task, oh boy I’m glad I found this one. This was the best onion soup I’ve had in California; the special of the day was ossobuco which tickled my curiosity and it paid off, it was fantastic. My wife had the beef short ribs and my daughter had the beef bourguignon, everything paired with a good and reliable syrah, it was a wonderful dinner. Everything was cooked close to perfection. Definitely will be back.

Cute French vibe restaurant and bakery! Beautiful lunch experience. Got their French Onion Soup, their famous Quiche Maison and Chicken Pot Pie. Delicious, filling and unique. Food is tasty and fresh and healthy. Very nice presentation of the Chocolate Mousse cake! Don’t leave without getting their display pastries for the road. Staff are great. Close to the shopping center and the main street. Come here if the other restaurants are busy.

Been here for dinner and pastry take out respectively. Nice atmosphere. Dinner was good, the taste was likely an American cuisine than French. We were fine though because of their great and friendly service.

This is a must if you are visiting Carmel by the sea. We made our reservations a week and half out for a Saturday and time slots were already filling up so make yours well in advance. You walk in and are immediately met with the beautiful sights in the pastry counter. A friendly greeting and a heartfelt welcome and then a short walk into a setting that is warm and inviting. Our server was so friendly and warm we felt like family. The Beef short ribs are one of my most common orders and this dish was among my favorites of all time. The other order at the table was the Ossobuco from the specials. The meat was so tender and the flavors amazing. We paired with an Italian Red and finished with Pot au Chocolat. I highly recommend dining here and we will definitely return if we come back through town.

This cozy, elegant restaurant is a favorite gem in Carmel. We are locals, and three generations of our family have enjoyed the ambience and food in this wonderful place. The couple who own it are charming and always make us feel welcome. No matter what you order, don’t miss the French onion soup and the best fries in town. And the pastries and desserts. All highly recommended

Loved this French restaurant in Carmel! It is very popular for their bakery, which is always busy. I really enjoyed the French onion soup. I ordered the braised beef ribs and thought it was okay but a little too dry. My friend ordered the braised lamb shank and thought it was good and tender. The desserts were delicious and we went back twice while in Carmel.

I’ve been there a few times and food was great, however this last time wasn’t the case. The beef bourguignon was bad, meet wasn’t tender and the vegetables were tasteless, unfortunately. We ordered a baked brie and despite it was good, it’s half the size it was a while back. Finally, they have a 18% gratitude included by default. I’d have happily paid that 18% if the food have been good, but it wasn’t the case.

One of our favorite restaurants in Carmel. The salmon cooked in parchment paper is delicious, as is the French onion soup and their desserts! Also the bread with the chopped olives.. so good!! A jewel of a place and romantic too! Bon appetite!!
