Reviews
The waitstaff is very attentive (we ordered a bottle of wine and the refills came regularly).
We had the appetizer catwalk, which was beautifully presented and amazingly tasty, the papaya salad was exceptional. The main dishes (we took the spicy basil with duck and the backed tofu with panang sauce) were delicious as well. The spice levels are definitely adjusted to the European palate, but the tastes are there.
I’d wanted to try this restaurant for years, but felt that the prices were a little too high so we waited for the right opportunity; after having had the experience, I find the prices to be justified (I am no chef, but the ingredients tasted high-quality) and we’ll definitely be back for more!
From the very first bite, it was evident that Patara doesn’t merely serve Thai cuisine; it curates a narrative layered, expressive, and deeply rooted in authenticity, yet finished with an elegant Viennese finesse.
The journey began with crispy prawns and spring rolls, each crafted with a level of care that transcends the familiar. The textures were exact, the flavors clean yet confidently pronounced crisp, fragrant, and irresistibly moreish.
The Tom Yum Goong followed, not just as a soup but as a statement piece. A perfect harmony of heat, citrus, and aromatics balanced with a clarity that makes you pause, recalibrate, and return for another sip. It was one of those rare bowls that reminds you why Tom Yum became world renowned in the first place.
From the main courses, the Panang tender beef was a revelation velvety, aromatic, and enveloped in a Panang curry so refined it felt almost silk like. The chicken with cashew nuts delivered a different dimension comforting, vibrant, and beautifully executed with that signature Patara depth.
To close, the mango sticky rice delivered the final note of elegance, a timeless Thai classic, here elevated with freshness, balance, and a softness that lingered long after the plate was cleared.
Patara Vienna stands confidently among the city’s finest dining experiences: a place where every plate carries intention, every flavor feels deliberate, and every moment is quietly extraordinary. It is Thai cuisine elevated without losing its heart modern, measured, and masterfully composed.
A restaurant that doesn’t simply impress its guests, it leaves them inspired.
We ordered a beautiful mix of dishes to share:
Spicy fresh mango salad with lightly battered soft shell crab and cashew nuts
Chicken Sago – steamed, hand-crafted sago with caramelized chicken and peanut
Chicken with cashew nuts and spring onions
Beef Panang – tender grilled organic beef fillet in a rich panang curry sauce
Chili-lime scallops – seared king scallops in a spicy chili-lime rice dressing
Everything arrived quickly, perfectly plated, and bursting with flavor. The Chablis we chose complemented every dish beautifully.
Warm, attentive team, perfect location, and food that truly delivers on taste and presentation. We’ll definitely be back.
We didn’t like the extra charge 3 EUR per person, also tap water was charged.
The attached receipt has the 1/3 of the final cost. We were 3 people.
