Update: Just came for the 2nd time and got a large pastrami Rueben ($37.95 before tax) and would recommend doing 2 smalls since that was way easier to eat. I took half the pastrami off the large and brought it home!
We ordered Philly cheesesteak, Reuben pastrami, brisket, pastrami, and two French fries, all for takeout. Every single item was delicious, flavorful, and prepared with care. You can really tell they put passion into their work.
There’s also a dine-in option, but for us, the takeout process was quick, easy, and very enjoyable. We couldn’t be happier with our experience. Wishing the team lots of success—just keep up the smiles, the great service, and the amazing food!
The pastrami is incredibly good, very juicy and fatty. The brisket was also good but drier by comparison, and I found myself wanting a bbq sauce for it (which I don’t think they have but I didn’t ask). I’m glad I tried it but next time I’m just going for the pastrami. The sandwiches are large – with my older appetite I probably would’ve killed one on my own but we all eat a bit less now and are saving the other halves to eat later, which is perfect.
They take their time making the sandwiches so not ideal if you’re in a rush but the service was great. Already highlighted this place to friends and they’re excited to try it.
My husband and I were lucky enough to drop in while there was a lull in service, which meant we got time to pore over the menu before stepping up to the ordering counter. The sight that greets you at said counter is enough to whet your appetite. Behind a plexiglass window, there are hot pans filled with fresh, uncut pastrami and knife-wielding men expertly slicing up those meat heaps into portions. They have a lovely custom of serving up some sample portions on a plate for you to taste as they prepare your order.
My husband ordered the pastrami burger thinking it would just be a pastrami sandwich with added lettuce and tomatoes. We didn’t realize this was a behemoth of a meal, complete with a burger patty, caramelized onions, and healthy schmears of house-made Russian dressing and whole grain mustard. Oh, and freshly fried steak fries on the side. It was truly a meal to behold, as every single pair of eyes in the restaurant were glued to that plate as we passed by them to find a seat. The burger patty itself was just fine (and perhaps a little dry), but when topped with pastrami and toppings, this burger felt like the pinnacle of pastrami decadence. It seems trifling to compliment the side of fries, but these, too, were exactly the way I like my fries – perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and potatoey on the inside.
My corned beef sandwich was also a hit. I’m forever trying to learn the difference between corned beef and pastrami, and the guy at the front was nice enough to give us samples of each. While both were remarkable for their tenderness, I found the corned beef slightly less salty and mellow-flavored than the pastrami. They piled an almost comical amount of slices onto my bread (a la Katz, if you’ve ever been), so much that I felt well sated before I even consumed a quarter of my sandwich.
If anything fell slightly short for us, the cole slaw felt a little too slick and thick with mayonnaise. But that’s hardly a dig when they’re serving up sky-high cured meat sandwiches that are this hot, tender, and satisfying.
The workers here are SO hardworking. The guys behind the counter know what they’re doing and just a few minutes at the counter made it clear how efficient things are in the kitchen. The space inside the restaurant is tight, especially when there’s a line. During our meal, we watched the line grow until it was out the door, which left little room to navigate if we ended up needing a takeout box or extra sauce. There are tables on one side and larger booths on the other, and even a few tables outside if things get too crazy inside.
