I love this place. Family owned and operated, I’ve never been disappointed here. Love his chicken Marsala and lasagna especially. Spaghetti Maria was fabulous. The meatballs appetizer is a great start to a belly filling meal. Homemade sangria is a nice touch.

Fabulous experience at Pastaz! The Chicken Alfredo and Spaghetti Maria (a spicy marinara sauce with sausage) were very flavorful – definitely the best my wife and I have ever had! The pasta meals come served in the skillet, so they’re plenty warm… and the portions are very generous! The salad and bread were also quite good.

Good Italian style food served in the skillet it was cooked in. No fancy wine glasses here either. Your wine comes in a simple water glass. They have a nice simple menu and run chef specials. Rarely crowded, but don’t let that stop you. It’s clean and comfortable and easy to find half way down Water Street.

We have been going to pastaz a few times a year pretty much since they’ve opened. Food is good but their customer service is lacking. Went tonight with a party of 7. They said that they only served party sizes up to 6. I said that’s fine we will do a table of 4 and a table of 3. The waitress said they did not have those size tables available. I pointed out that there were two tables of 4 that were right next to where we were standing. After about 30 seconds of a blank stare from the hostess I laughed and said we were good and we went on our merry little way. I cannot for the life of me fathom why you would turn customers away. You are a local business who I have been happy to support and recommend over the years. I’m sorry that after the rude reception I received tonight I will no longer be able to do that.

Been there probably 15 times never have I ever had a bad meal. The food is excellent and the service too. But I was shocked when we were leaving two guys came in wanting a table for five and were told they didn’t have one. Now mind you they have 2 tables for six that were full then they have tables for 4&2 people. They would not put two tables together shocking as the restaurant has 13 tables total and there was only a total of 4 tables being used. The woman in front of the restaurant has no hospitality it was a slow night. They left saying they would never came back. Guess they don’t need the money.

This is my favorite restaurant ever. If I had a choice to go to any restaurant it would be here. The chicken cacciatore is the best, and so is a lot of their other food. You also get a lot of it too and is good for leftovers. Your food comes in the pan it was cooked in so everything stays warm while you eat. The servers are pretty nice and one waiter will sometimes know what we would like to order. I love to come here with my family and will be back a lot more times.

We visited this restaurant a couple of years ago while in the Gardiner area and enjoyed the experience. Last night we went back. My husband could not seem to communicate his question for a wine recommendation. The owner/waiter lost his temper and ordered us the ‘f’ out of his restaurant and told us never to come back. We are still stunned and don’t understand what we said or did to offend him. When I asked him to please not use such language he told me “and you can get the ‘f’ out too.

One of Gardiner’s two higher-end restaurants, Pastaz at first scared me away with their ubiquitous Italian cuisine. Once visiting and trying their food, however, I was hooked! The night I visited, I had a Hunter’s Stew (featuring rabbit, one of my favorites) and everyone else tried a little bit of everything from the menu. We were all quite satisfied with our meal and our service. Definitely worth a taste!
