Pasta e Pasta by Allegro – A Hidden Gem for Japanese-Italian Comfort Food
Pasta e Pasta by Allegro is hands down one of my favorite Japanese-Italian fusion restaurants. With two locations—one in downtown Los Angeles and another (my go-to!) tucked away in a small strip mall in Cerritos—this place is a true hidden gem.
Though the Cerritos location is small, it’s cozy and welcoming. The service is consistently warm and attentive, making each visit feel like a special occasion. I love trying different dishes and appetizers every time I go, and I’ve never been disappointed.
Each meal starts with a fresh salad and piping hot rolls that are baked to perfection—soft, fluffy, and addictively good. The star of the show, of course, is the pasta. Every dish is incredibly flavorful, perfectly cooked, and absolutely comforting. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic or something with a unique Japanese twist, their menu has something that hits the spot.
If you’re in the area, this place is a must try. It’s the kind of spot you’ll want to keep coming back to.

Maybe outside of a few michelin spots like osteria mozza and a few others, probably my favorite pasta spot in socal. Definitely for the price i dont know a better place for pasta. Japanese style pasta thats a cut above a place like spoon house in gardena. Although spoon house will always hold a soft spot for me since i went there since they opened back in the late 80s.

Ive had most of the items on the menu and everything was excellent. Personally i live the mentai cream and beef ragu the most depending on what im in the mood for. The free salad and bread is very nice as well. And you can ask for more bread AND salad, unless that policy has changed. Havent been to the one in little tokyo but have heard that one is actually better? Not sure personally.

I go here probably once a month as i crave that great al dente pasta and sauce. Usually a wait at dinner time but it usually isnt too bad.

A cute pasta shop that tries to be more elevated but kind of falls short. Some solid dishes but overall didn’t really live up to the hype.

Burrata: Skip
Fresh tomatoes and cheese but missing depth. Felt a little too basic and flat compared to similar dishes at other spots.

Uni Pasta: Maybe?
If you’re just here to try it for the novelty, go for it. Otherwise it’s kind of underwhelming. Didn’t have the strong uni flavor or brininess you’d expect.

Seafood Pasta: Get
Definitely the best one. Creamy, sweet, flavorful, and actually felt well balanced. Would totally get this again.

The place has good intentions and a nice vibe, but a lot of dishes just don’t hit the mark. With a few tweaks this spot could be great, but for now it feels a bit overrated and overpriced.

Food: 6/10
Service: 6/10
Atmosphere: 7/10
Value: 5/10

Probably the worst pasta I ever had, I ordered the beef ragu. It was so expensive and the meat tasted like microwaved meat. I only had 2 or 3 bites of my dish and left. Why do they think they can charge for premium pasta? This is the worse pasta I ever had. Don’t go here!

Very delicious, creamy and rich, with a sweet taste of sea urchin. The only thing I don’t understand is that the small restaurant can be a bit noisy with only a few tables. The price is a bit higher than I expected.

I loved my experience here at Pasta E Pasta. The restaurant is small, yet cozy and charming. The server was very friendly and quick – props to him because I think he’s the only one running the floor.

Food was absolutely perfect. We started with the creamy crab gratin. The crab was very flavorful and went well with the piping hot cheese. There’s bits of penne pasta inside, but I also liked spreading it on my bread. The Uni pasta was phenomenal. The uni paired well with the creamy sauce and everything was seasoned beautifully. It was very easy to eat – sometimes pasta is too rich that it’s hard to power through. Not this pasta. This pasta is perfect. The noodles are al dente. The sauce is just right.

Make sure to come early because they close early!

I love this place sooo much. The food is unbelievable, the prices are super fair for everything you get (main dish, salad, bread). The service is always spot on and friendly. Going to pasta e pasta for dinner makes date night feel extra special.

For me, it’s been difficult to find good Italian food in SoCal. Pasta e pasta is the only place that does it right (for me)!

GREAT PASTA. My husband and I ordered uni pasta and peperoncino squid&mushroom pasta – they were both amazing. The noodles are perfectly cooked (al dente) and the sauce is not too salty not too blend. I would definitely go back to try other pastas.

Just make sure you arrive early! around 5ish so that you dont have to wait too long

It’s been a while since I had Japanese-style, and this place did not disappoint! The Arrabbiata was nice and spicy. Heck, everything was great! The Beefy Ragu was what I got. The meat was soft, but if it was softer, it’d be PERFECT! The spaghetti had a nice bit of springiness, and was SUPER thin! Very nice! Also had a bit of smokiness to it. I liked it! On top of that, they offered more Parmesan or chilli flakes too! AWESOME!!!
The interior does sort of remind me of a retro-style Japanese place serving up Western food. I’d come back again!

Had been reading good things about this restaurant and finally decided to take a plunge. What a pleasant surprise.

All the pastas here are thin spaghettis but what sets this place apart is variety of options and flavors they have to go with this. We tried the Uni Pasta and the Arrabiata pasta with veggies – both were great. All pastas come with a complimentary side salad and ciabatta bread.

Service was on the mark. The place is a bit challenged for space and we could hear every word of what our adjacent table diners were talking about.

Overall – We had a good lunch !
