Pasqual’s in Verona closing, Easter treats, and a new NBA record
Reviews
We had a little birthday celebration & the birthday boy wanted Pasqual’s.
I remember this restaurant from years past and it’s still amazingly good.
I was surprised that at 1pm on a Wednesday there were so few diners however it was nice to be seated quickly and have attentive service.
Hungry for guacamole, we ordered this appetizer with choice of salsas for $8.50. The chips were fresh & liberally doused with chili pepper seasoning – a nice touch. The guacamole & salsas were very fresh tasting!
The menu had some great drink choices but we opted for water at this time of day.
I had a double taco (with black beans & avocado,) my partner enchiladas & I forgot what the birthday boy got… Our orders were brought to the table within six minutes of ordering and we all remarked how incredibly fresh & tasty our dishes were. Honestly, the veggies on my taco were fresher than any I’ve had anywhere in town!
We did not order dessert but they only had churros & some rice Krispy treat thing on the menu. Disappointingly, the server did not offer any birthday treat either & we didn’t want to ask. (We had told her we were celebrating a birthday, too.)
Overall, nice vibe, clean, good selection, affordable, fast service and excellent food!
There are many places that offer guac and street corn and can’t get it right! Great thing for you wisconsin’s and epic employees cause little do you know, you’re getting a great taste of Texas and Deep South!!!
We go to Verona at least once a year and this is now a must stop for our family for years to come
They were steamed in the husks as is traditional, but they put the sauce and cheese on the husks. Once you took the husk off there was no sauce or cheese.
They should really open the husks and apply the sauce and cheese. That’s how they do it most places I’ve been to. The masa corn meal was dry and crumbly instead of moist. Flavor was okay but not great.
Most Mexican places have free chips and salsa. Here they charge. They asked if we wanted mild or medium salsa. We said both. We were charged for the cups plus an extra $1.50 for getting both salsas. What’s usually free cost us over $7.00 after tax and tip.
My wife liked the Taco Salad.
Overall I’d say it was okay, not bad, but they’re are so many really good Mexican places that I wouldn’t feel the urge to go back.
The hero of the dish is the PORK. I don’t know how they did it, but it is so well seasoned, and probably was roasted or slow cooked but it is just right and perfect.
Other things in the bowl are so fresh and high-quality. I just love this. It’s my most favorite thing to eat right now.
The service has either been poor or very good. No in between. One time my order was not correct but still chose to eat it. Was not offered a discount on my bill for the mix up. Service was slow they were understaffed that day or so we had been told. The next time service was great. Food was served quickly. The Veggie Enchiladas were solid. Same with rice and beans served on the side.
Parking is a hassle small lot and street parking is tight as well. If it is busy you will have to park a few blocks away. Place is very noisy when it is busy. It can be hard to carry a conversation or hear your sever speak to you. Nice patio area though.
I would say it is worth trying if you have never been there. Like I said you may have a good experience or a poor one.
Decent drink list. Plenty of parking.
