This Cafe looked inviting and the waitress was friendly, the food on the other hand was the worst breakfast I have ever been served and paid for. My husband and youngest ordered biscuits and gravy both orders were cold, the biscuits were cold like fresh out of the refrigerator and the gravy was not even Luke warm. My oldest and myself ordered chicken fried steak and eggs with hash browns. Both of these orders were also cold and the chicken fried steak looked like something a dermatologist had removed off someone’s body!!! It was not edible. I would never set foot here again I would NOT recommend anyone else eat here either!!

We came here as a breakfast stop while on vacation. We both ordered biscuits and gravy with an over easy egg. The waitress told us that they were out of biscuits, so we could either order something else or wait 20 minutes for some fresh ones. We weren’t in a hurry, so decided to wait for fresh ones – no big deal. Just under 40 minutes later our order came out, and the biscuits were tasteless balls of dough with a rock hard outside. My over easy egg was basically cooked right through.
That being said, the waitress was excellent, she kept our coffee full and was apologetic. I think the place is just a bit short staffed. The cook probably needs some help in the kitchen… So 2 stars. I would hit up the other place in town on a return visit.

Was passing through Darby on a Sunday looking for a place to have breakfast, this was the first place we saw open. My husband had an omelet and I had sausage and eggs. Prices were what we expected to pay. We both thought our breakfast tasted good and was cooked correctly. The service was very friendly but the wait time for the food was very slow.

I’ve been here twice. Both times my boyfriends food looked great, but my food was burned. I don’t know about the rest of you but I like golden fluffy pancakes, not flat and charred. I never felt I could send the food back because both times it was only one server and that one server was very busy and flustered.
The only reason I chose to give two stars was because of their server. She was really nice and tried very hard to help everyone, but was very overwhelmed which caused her to be rather airheaded. In my opinion from the two times I’ve been there, they need more staff and a new cook.
If I ever go back it will be with apprehension and anxiety. However they say third time is the charm and perhaps by then things may have improved, but it’s a 50/50 chance that it’ll be strike three.
In all honesty, unless you have a reason so drive to Darby in the middle of nowhere, and instead live more centrally located in the bitterroot Valley, the Coffee Cup in Hamilton is a mirror image for the same price and same food (mind you I’ve never had burned food there). The difference is that the coffee cup may be a shorter drive but it’s usually very busy as opposed to this cafe that has been practically empty both times I’ve been.
With that all being said, I leave it to the readers discretion. Give it a chance if your feeling adventurous! Or don’t.

Wow. I am so amazed at how truly awful the food was. Burned for some, underdone for others. All the food was so awful, it was truly epic. I didn’t know how badly someone could ruin food. I laughed so hard. Now I know how bad it can get. The decor was nice and the waitress apologetic. My friend who bought me and my family breakfast was livid. My one big disappointment was the eggs Benedict. Ruining that is a true crime against good eggs. Poor things, the eggs, the cook, the waitress. They used to have such good clam chowder there. Now I know what I don’t want.

Not only was the service top knotch… The burrito saved my day. Haha. The owner is welcoming and so very friendly not to mention if you go… You just may run into a few celebrities. Seems to be the place to go for great eats and good people. Ill be coming back on a regular.

The cook that was working that night took my order into consideration personally and the waitress was very kind. Even though they were short staffed from the look of things, they still got my order out on time as well. GREAT swiss mushroom burger!!

2 times I have stopped in here……never again. Food is awful (cold, burned)…..waitress just ignored us until another customer told her to wait on us. Then her service got better.
