Parcelle is an online wine retailer and hospitality group based in New York City. Our restaurant and wine bar locations in Manhattan share many overarching similarities. They’re both outfitted in vintage furniture and serve as a place to drop by for a glass of wine or to enjoy a bottle from the 500+ list with a full dinner menu. While the lists are unique, you’ll find everything from esoteric natural wines to highly collectible Burgundy and Barolo on both, as well as sommeliers to offer guidance. The cutlet was insane…… the sauce was one of the tastiest, most beautiful sauces I’ve ever had. The wine was spot-on and the service from the staff was unreal.
Easily a 10/10.
We booked this for a private dinner. I attached the pricing – we got the wagyu so it was $105 pp and that comes out to about $155 pp with tax, tip, and fees (10% admin fee which is pretty high but it was December).
My qualm is that the service didn’t justify the admin fee and I was hungry after.
There was only one waitress in the private room and one waiter helped her carry out food from now and then. So getting a refill on your wine was pretty difficult. They knew we were planning for 24 people so they definitely could’ve staffed this better, especially since they got a 10% admin fee, in addition to 20% tip.
We originally booked for 24 people but 28 ended up coming and we confirmed last minute, so they charged us for 28, which is fair.
But the portions are tiny so I asked if we could get an extra of the crudo, the waitress said no because we prepaid for this – so we are getting the same amount of food for 24 people even though we paid for 28 people. Fine, we made the change last minute. So I asked if they could add that dish à la carte and she said no.
So they can make a last minute change on the headcount to charge you extra, you can order à la carte shots, but you cant order à la carte food.
We all went to a bar right after and got burgers and chicken sandwiches. I’m 5’5” and 110 pounds and I was still starving afterward. Don’t come here if you want to feel full.
Also, the private room is in the back, and there’s a door back there that opens to Houston. And there’s some type of wind tunnel because every time someone opened the door, it stayed open and it resulted in blizzard-like conditions. There was a heater in there cranked to 80 degrees, I was at the table farthest from the door, right under the heater, and my feet were numb.
Food was good though just not enough of it. I can’t remember specifics because I was so hungry and cold. Since there was so little food and it wasn’t really staffed well, I just personally didn’t have a great overall experience. And it definitely does not justify the price – $155 pp for the prix fixe but it ended up coming out to ~$216 pp since we ordered off menu drinks ($6k for 28 people). I think if they want to lean into their wine bar identity, they could’ve done a suggested wine pairing or something to stand out.
Also no dessert (on the private dining menu, idk abt à la carte).
And good luck if you are a vegan or vegetarian. Not veg friendly. We told them we had a vegetarian in our group ahead of time so they could plan his food and he complained the entire time that he was hungry.
Also almost forgot to mention but the private room is on the other side of the kitchen so you have to go through there to use the bathroom.
Loved everything about this wine bar. The vibe is super chill and cozy—perfect for catching up with friends or just unwinding after a long day. The staff was super nice about seating me while I was waiting for my friend.
Also, the small bites were surprisingly good! Definitely planning to come back soon.
