This sophisticated restaurant serves elevated Asian fusion including a sushi menu.

I would recommend this restaurant for dinner, including to celebrate a special occasion.
We had a great experience here. Joel was an excellent server – very friendly and attentive. All the dishes came out quickly and were delicious. The Brussels sprouts were the star of the meal.
We also weren’t expecting dinner and a show. We were sat at a table close to the kitchen, which is open and visible to the dining room. One of the chefs was doing his best Gordon Ramsey, swearing at (or at least in the faces of) the staff and being aggressive behind the line. We absolutely heard a plate crash in the kitchen after someone realized they had a dish they couldn’t serve for whatever reason. It was striking at first, but we got used to it as we drank throughout our meal.
In all seriousness, that chef was pretty rude to the staff, and it was uncomfortable to watch. Otherwise, the service from Joel and the other staff who stopped by our table was great.
Overall, despite the unexpected kitchen show, I would go back and would recommend this restaurant.

Great sushi. They do offer other food options but the sushi is where it’s at. We ate outside and was nice. The atmosphere was very elegant as that’s what some old lady called it. Come on Monday they do a sushi Monday deal that is awesome! We did spend a pretty penny here. A great lunch or dinner date option for your significant other. Only street parking available from what I’ve seen. Can be rough finding parking during the weekends. Bathrooms are very clean btw. Good job Parallax

A Tremont staple. Amazing sushi, fantastic sake. All of the food is top notch. They made some changes to half price sushi Mondays. I was a fan since it keeps the kitchen caught up and you get your food I’m 7 minutes instead of 90. You have to order hot food from the kitchen and an app to qualify for half price sushi which also does not include speciality roles. I think this was great because I got to try things I probably wouldn’t have. Like the brisket udon. Which was fantastical!

As native Clevelanders, we are sad to admit that this was our first time going to Parallax – but now we will add this to our regular list. The food was spectacular and top notch. Love the relaxed and chic vibe. Service was great too. Lots of options on the menu, next time we will definitely try the sushi.

No complaints with the service but food is a terrible disappointment, quite overhyped & pretentious. They aspire to be fancy but the food is nowhere there & fails to capture the essence of delicate balance in French & Japanese cooking/influence. I say this as a person having experience with a hell lot of affordable as well as expensive high-end restaurants with amazing food in Cleveland & elsewhere. Not sure what the reviews are raving about. Had yellow tail & scallion hand roll, green dragon sushi roll, edamame, beef potstickers, sashimi salad, iceberg wedge salad, & sake. The yellow tail hand roll was simply wrapped into a cone/burrito with thick fish slices with no flavor at all. The green dragon sushi was good but way too huge, not bit sized (can barely even pick it up with chopsticks), thick rice layer & drenched in sauces – not typical of authentic sushi. Sashimi salad had huge thick slices of raw fish, some of which we had to cut ourselves bc we couldn’t consume it & feared having that much quantity of raw fish (gave me a stomach ache next day). The edamame was drenched in a soup of butter. The iceberg wedge salad had massive chunks of lettuce & tomato that we had to chop & it was drenched in dressing along with thick slices of soft bacon (not crispy). The beef potstickers were really good & loved the sake. The staff was extremely warm & welcoming. But, the food needs a hell lot of improvement. Can excuse a few exceptions but issues with almost every dish is a big red flag to me. Even the complementary bread was served cold & tasted weird & it wasn’t even sourdough or ciabatta or baguette, just some almost stale tasting bread. You can find much better quality of the same dishes elsewhere. Really appreciate the wine director helping us with our sake selection though & constantly being asked if we liked the food by the staff.

ZACK BRUELL’s Franco-Asian style restaurant, Parallax is among the best restaurants I have ever been to.
Bruell is a chef with 40 years of experience and most recently was nominated for a James Beard Award for the Great Lakes Area.
We decided to go down for the football-sized serving of Onion Rings and build our meal outward from there.
The rings are a little spicy and very thin and crunchy. They are my favorite holdover from Zach’s tenure at Ken Stewart’s in Akron, Ohio.
On the menu they are listed simply as Spicy Onion Rings ( see the two photos )
I also tried the special soup
Soup Du Jou – Tom Kha – Thai Chicken Coconut Soup with chantrel mushrooms
This is was subtle soup with a chicken, coconut milk and lime base. Good but different from the Tom Kha I am accustomed to. My wife loved the mushrooms.
Grilled Hanger Steak with Loaded Mashed Potatoes / white cheddar, bacon, scallions
and a sweet & sour portabella, roasted tomato, beurre blanc.
This steak was so tender and seasoned so well that we didn’t need the sauce but appreciated the complexity of it paired with the meat. My wife substituted the loaded mashed potatoes in lieu of the Herb potatoes. The Mashed potatoes soaked up the sauce perfectly.
My wife had the 75 Pear Martini. No complaints!!
In the past we have had sushi and Bouillabaisse. No desert .
This restaurant has the best service and wait staff I have ever encountered. We had a treat as Zach was expediting while we were there and the server suggested I stop and say hi. Zach was gracious and we shared stories from his time in Akron Ohio and the amazing onion rings. When I returned to the table, my napkin was refolded and my area policed. Great attention to detail.
Run don’t walk here.

I came to Parallax with a friend to try for an early birthday dinner. It was our first time there. The place’s ambience is great. The service is amazing. The place is clean and tavles are properly distanced. You have to try the beef short rib potstickers. They are phenomenal. The calamari is great too. For sushi we ordered: Rainbow Roll, Spider Roll, and Lobster Roll. The sushi tasted fresh and amazing. I’ll be back soon!!

I am impressed by Cleveland’s restaurant scene, and Parallax is one of those gems. Super friendly staff, very professional and attentive but laid back (a compliment). They know the menu and are willing to make suggestions and tell you their favorites. I had the Peking chicken over Japanese pancakes, which is a creation unique to this restaurant, upon the suggestion of our server, and I have to say it did not disappoint. I was blown away by perfectly cooked shredded chicken over delicious vegetable pancakes created in-house. Words cannot make it justice so I’m going to leave it at that. We got tempura green beans as a side for the table, with and without wasabe allioli (they come with the sauce, but we asked for some without). The green beans were perfectly cooked and seasoned, so much so that I think I like them better without additional sauces. L
For dessert my wife had raspberry sorbet, and our friend and I ordered carrot cake with cream cheese ice cream, that was so good that we ordered two pieces because we refused to share.
The only blemish on an otherwise fantastic experience were the horrible horrible chopsticks. Every dish is beautifully presented, and comes with a pair of chopsticks, which would be great, except that they use the cheap, balsa wood kind with splinters and weird texture. We talked to our server about the chopsticks and she agreed, the staff hates the chopsticks too because they’re hard to break apart, and they agree they cheapen the experience. We laughed about it with our server (did I mention the staff is outstanding?) and promised to complain about the silly chopsticks so management does something about them!
I highly recommend Parallax. We had a great experience (bar the chopsticks) and will certainly come back when we’re back in town.
