Pappa’s Sweet Shop is a must stop! Not only is the staff incredibly kind, the food is AMAZING! Even the pickiest of eaters will find something to love here. From smothered burritos in the best green chili gravy ever to pancakes and cream sodas; Pappa’s has it all. It is also very child friendly; a waiter went above and beyond to make our nephew (6) feel grown up and welcomed. He was so excited to be noticed that he enthusiastically gave many hugs to the staff and they smiled and hugged him right back. They literally made the difference in our entire trip!

Let me start off by saying our server Debbie was AMAZING!!!! Never did our coffee get cold. Food was hot fresh and delicious. Homemade bread for my breakfast sandwich, perfectly spiced Chile’ for the stuffed breakfast sopapilla. Excellent portion sizes, prices beyond reasonable. Cannot wait until our kids come to visit so they can enjoy this glorious little shop. 100% recommend. Thank you!!!

We went here today and almost walked out without our food . We had to wait over an hour and fifteen minutes for our food. The staff was very friendly and we got good service. We were starving by the time we ate so I did not get pics of the food. The food was pretty good. The cinnamon roll was yummy. My only complaint was the wait time. The server said it was due to the to go orders. My point of view is make the wait time for those longer, not the people setting in your restaurant.

We wanted a home cooked meal while we stopped to stretch our legs and this was great! I got the Sweet Shop burger with bacon and green Chiles and onion rings and it hit the spot. I would say that eating here takes a bit for your food to cook and come out. We spent about an hour and 15 min total here but we wanted the chance to rest from our drive so it worked out great. And they brought out our drinks immediately after sitting down so we were taken care of while waiting for food. If you have the time, I recommend!

We were on our way back to Colorado and wanted some good New Mexican food. A lady we talked to highly recommended this place. (The name alone should have told us “not Mexican). While the man who sat us and our waitress were very nice and the portions are huge, the food is bland beans and all. The green and red chili are like gravy, not spicy at all. That is not hatch green chili. My husband and I split a plate of enchilada and 2 tacos and we still had to take the sopapillas with us. Would not go there for Mexican food.

Was on my way to Colorado Springs and decided to stop in Raton for some lunch. It’s not right off of I-25, but it’s close. The food was good, I had stacked enchiladas and my companions had burgers. Portion sizes we on the larger side, and that’s good. Disappointing part was the glacially slow service. We were in the restaurant for over an hour at lunch time. Like I said, the food was good, but I would recommend that you make sure to have plenty of time before you need to be somewhere.

Omg. This is the place to eat. We stopped for breakfast- had the most delicious breakfast sandwich on homemade bread with the best green sauce ever. The gentleman that seated us was pleasant and entertaining. The story of Pappas sweets was heartfelt. The history in the pictures and other items in the restaurant tells a story. The out sude just says Restaurant but it is Pappas’ restaurant. I would love to go back again and try thier lunch.

There is a reason this place has been around for almost 100 years and is still owned by the same family. The food is superb and the owners and staff are incredible people. I will eat here every time I am within a hundred miles because food this good is worth the drive. Thanks again!!!

Based on the name (sounds like a candy shop), I was hesitant to give this restaurant a try, but it turned out to be a great option for late breakfast/brunch. Good coffee, excellent huevos rancheros, and giant pancakes. The restaurant seemed understaffed and service was a little slow, but this wasn’t a big issue for us. Customers can pay by scanning the QR code on their receipt.
