It’s been a while since we ate papas bbq.
I was looking forward to it. I had brisket and fries.
The sauce is not the same, it tastes like alcohol to me. I am not fond of it.
My husband thinks it was sweeter.
So we don’t agree on that. We agree however the change was not for the better.
Yelp gave them 2.8 stars. I thought it was just yelp since here on google it is 4 stars.
I have to go with yelp on this one.
Now I feel it’s over priced.
My brisket wasn’t as tender as it used to be either. I remember it use to melt in your mouth.

Service is usually pretty quick, but you might find a line during lunch or dinner rush. Even then, the wait isn’t too bad.
The ribs are fantastic, the stuffed potatoes are massive, and the portions are generous. Their burgers are also great and will leave you completely satisfied and stuffed.
It might not be the absolute best BBQ in all the land, but it’s consistently good. Plus, with so many Pappas locations around Houston, there’s probably one not too far from you.

I usually go to the location 5 minutes away but was closer to this one today. I got my usual order of a brisket, egg & cheese taco which usually is enough to fill me up but left me still hungry instead. As soon as I grabbed it out of the bag I could tell it didnt compare and sure enough once opened there was hardly any meat in the taco and ended up being more egg than anything. If I would have known they skimp on the meat I would have just settled for something cheaper than the $6 I paid for this one. Definitely disappointed & will just continue going to the location off 45 & Monroe where the tacos are actually worth the price.

We had an absolutely amazing experience once again. Food was delicious,2 meat W/2 sides. The management team was wonderful, Javier took excellent care of us. We(4) went in after church, scooters,and walkers, I requested a larger table and he took care of it. The restroom was clean and spacious for our walkers.
I do wish we didn’t have to stand in line so long, some places have handicap to come to front of line or seat them first and take their orders but through it all, we will be back.

I’ve eaten there for years so I know ribs aren’t supposed to me blood red on the inside. I ordered the PORK ribs and when I bite on the they were tough and red , not pink red on the inside. I told the manager and she said “that what our meat looks like.” Tough and undercooked? This was Christmas Eve but there was no lines it wasn’t busy. No reason to rush the cook. She told me to get something else, but I wouldn’t be going back if this is the new standard.

The food has gone way downhill. Pulled pork now apparently means three big chunks of dry, chewy pork on an old bun. No thank you. French fries should not be the only decent thing on your plate at a BBQ restaurant. There’s way too much competition with actually good food to bother with this. Also, I shouldn’t be waiting 20+ minutes in line with only two people ahead of me. If they’re going to be this slow and charge this much, I should at least get to sit at a table while they do it.
