Is Pappadeaux restaurant worth trying for seafood in Albuquerque?

I love Pappadeaux. Their calamari is always cooked perfectly. They don’t have Mediterranean calamari on the menu but you can order it.

Pappadeuxs, how I adore thee! I have not only dined at this location, but in Houston and Denver in the past with all the same experiences. I have never had a bad experience at any of these dining locations. The food has always been plated very well, fresh, attentive service, friendly staff, and a menu that continues to make me visit. The food has been delicious every time for either lunch or dinner. The oysters are clean and taste incredible. I would not hesitate to visit this location as it is one of the better places!

Spent Mardi Gras lunch, and everything was perfect! Had my go-to blackened half chicken (on the menu its grilled half, but I always request blackened) and as always, regardless of where in the country I’ve had it, it was amazing. Subbed dirty rice which was really good, and the garlic bread which had great flavor and a touch of spice! Other things I’ve had are the Gator (I ask for it blackened), the blackened redfish, andouillie and seafood gumbo, and the BBQ shrimp, and all have been amazing! Can’t recommend this place enough!

We stopped in to this restaurant on our travels for the Christmas holidays. It’s a favorite chain of mine that I like to frequent when I can find one on the way or when I see one locally. This particular restaurant location was a disappointment from all the other places I have dined at. But I’m going to mention the disappointment part up front so I can isolate the problem. The curb appeal and southern New Orleans style appeal is noticed from the parking lot , walking to the front of the restaurant and all through the inside dining areas. The host desk is right in front facing the door when you walk in. This is where one of the host will greet you when you walk in , to seat you at your table. My host , who was a young man , tall , skinny , dark hair and glasses , met us and walked us to some tables near the host station. I asked if we can sit further in so I’m not sitting in a thoroughfare where theres going to be a lot of traffic walking by me. This host , got upset that I asked to be seated at a different location that he replied with a disrespectful tantrum and tirade saying and gesturing that there are isles all over the restaurant. So I sat uncomfortably and upset at the terrible and disgusting rude and disrespectful behavior I had to deal with at a restaurant I have raved about . It affected my appetite so I didn’t get to enjoy my meal or eat as much as usual. It was that one person, the host , that should never have been the face of the restaurant. The server was awesome. He was very friendly , prompt and professional.. The food was cooked perfectly as if I was still on the Gulf Coast eating local cajun and creole flavors and cuisine. I ordered the Pappadeaux seafood platter with the andouille sausage and seafood gumbo. The Pappadeaux seafood platter has a little more than the other platters. And the andouille sausage and seafood gumbo , is loaded like every respectable cajun and creole and gulf coast southerner would want. Both cooked to perfection. The seafood platter’s seafood is fried perfectly. Light , crunchy on the outside while the seafood fibers inside’s integrity is maintained. The flavor is all there and the food was served hot and fresh.
The waiter /server was prompt, friendly and very professional with our food , drinks , and tending to our experience.
There are lots of tables and seating inside and there is a courtyard outside. The bathroom is very spacious, and has multiple stalls. There is a big beautiful bar on the left side when you walk in the door.
I did bring the host’s disrespectful and ugly behavior to the attention of the manager. She knew who I was referring to right away. And she did address the situation with an apology.
I hope that the next time I swing by , that I will be able to enjoy my experience and not have my appetite ruined over another disappointing experience . A rotten fruit can ruin the rest of the basket if not removed. I want this chain to thrive because it’s a beautiful place to dine with amazingly delicious food. But I want to be honest with this experience, and rate this location as I actually experienced it.

We got placed near the bathroom door. A lot of foot traffic and the smell wasn’t very pleasant. Only got like 1 refill in the 2 hours that we were there. The appetizers, spinach dip and gator, salad were good! The platter was just greasy and everything kinda tasted the same. The waitress was busy so it’s understandable but you could probably save a few hundred dollars going to long John silvers or other cheaper seafood establishments. I reluctantly write this as I had high hopes. Screaming kids also didn’t make the experience any better.

Excellent service. Nice, large themed dining area. The alligator bites were great.
The catfish po boy was perfect for me. Everything had at least a slight tilt towards being spicy.

Service is absolutely amazing! My sisters and I are traveling to Las Vegas from Atlanta, and are staying overnight. Initially we went to eat at Cheddars, which is down the street. But after being seated for 10 minutes and our waitress/waiter never even coming to the table to even greet us. We left there and came to Pappadeaux. Greg was our waiter and he was absolutely amazing! Friendly, kind, funny, very personable!. He was knowledgeable on the dishes as well! The food was great! We left him a great tip because he deserved it. If you’re ever in town and visit this location ask for Greg!!! It was divine intervention that it didn’t work out at Cheddars.
