We got the three taco combo to try the shrimp, fish, and carnitas. They are relatively small and come in threes. Made with corn tortillas, cilantro, and a sour cream- guacamole sauce they are full of flavor. Beans and rice come on the side and being from Phoenix I know tacos and these stand up.
Seating is plentiful on this Sunday with picnic tables everywhere and beautiful weather. The aloha service was suspect and didn’t really feel like the lady was there to do anything but take orders.
At the End of the Day this is a taste choice out of the plethora of food trucks. Look for my review of Deez Bowls too. Solid choice if you’re craving a taco spread at a reasonable cost!
Having salsa “on tap” in the fridge is amazing, I had to go back for more.
The lady taking orders was really nice to us and the food came out in less than 10 mins
Avocado is available as a protein option for people who don’t want meat/fish. They offer it with or without a lightly fried batter.
Solely as a personal preference, it’s my opinion that they cut the avocado chunk way too large to let it’s flavors meld with the other toppings / sauces on the plate.
The chunk of avocado was so generous in size almost to a point of being disproportionate to the corn tortilla. Often leaving me with a mouth -full of plain avocado more than I prefer while eating a street-sized taco. I will say that the avocado chunks I received were both fresh and perfectly ripe.
On our second visit I was going to go for a plain cheese quesadilla but at the last minute added avocado and it was unfortunately not appetizing or quesadilla-like. It more resembled a burrito pressed on a grill with the huge avocado chunk causing the tortilla to turn to mush a bit. Not thinking I needed to specify that I wanted it flat like a quesadilla with any other filling (onions, peppers, etc.) would turn out like so it could be my bad for this one. I took the L on that one, sometimes you just pick the wrong thing!
The crisp and light batter on the quickly-fried avocados is great, but it didn’t feel like enough to keep your fried piece of avocado crunchy. I’m an avocado lover despite having unusual personal aversions to rando food textures so this may very well be irrelevant to you, just my own take.
My husband got the shrimp tacos on our first visit and fried fish tacos a few days later. He enjoyed both and they looked very good too.
We didn’t have any issues finding seating. It appeared to be family friendly but I wish the food truck area as a whole would prohibit kids (or anyone) from scaring, chasing and cornering the chickens for some weirdo entertainment. Not even the outside cats do that to those birds, so sheesh.
We loved getting food here and taking it over to the beer garden walking distance away for some craft local brews.
Chorizo was probably the best of the 3, yet far from an authentic experience. One of the other 2 tacos came mixed with some sort of tomato sauce, something unheard of and it was not good. The other meat taco was kinda of dry and flavorless.
The rice was a sort of tastless purea and the beans tasted like metal can.
Sorry but no, the food was the opposit of good and the lady who didn’t even bother to come out to call our name when the food was ready doesn’t deserve more stars than the food. Sorry.
