Love! Love! Love this restaurant/martini bar. My favorite martini is the coconut. The food is delicious. The bartenders are wonderful. Austin, Taj and Blanco are the best. The bar area is most definitely ‘the social scene’. Enjoy your time there.

Sharif was absolutely amazing. He crafted a beautiful drink and made sure I was well taken care of the entire time. He was so sweet, attentive, and clearly takes pride in what he does. My sangria was delicious, perfectly balanced and refreshing. Excellent service and an even better experience thanks to Sharif.

I have visited this restaurant twice; very nice atmosphere. The first time, I ordered the snapper and it was so disappointing that I had to send it back ( they were accommodating regarding that request) It was mushy and lacked flavor. I switched to the shrimp meal instead ( wasn’t bad at all). They removed the snapper from the bill, but they still charged me for the sides, even though the sides were taken away unfinished when they removed the plate.
Even with that experience, my partner and I decided to give them another chance because they are Black owned. This time, I ordered the catfish. It was okay, but not great. I chose the mac and cheese again because it was delicious during my first visit, but within just three weeks the quality changed drastically and the flavor was ridiculously bland. I also tried the mashed sweet potatoes and they were not good at all. The food/drinks is not completely terrible, but it is definitely not worth returning for, especially at the prices they charge. I really wish I could give them a higher rating but this place just wasn’t it for me.

Timiqua was wonderful and very friendly. She took care of us!
The food was so good. I got the red snapper. It was so filling and worth every penny. The drinks were amazing. The service was also amazing. The bread was awesome. The mimosa was so good.

I came to this restaurant to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Sadly, we had to wait a long time before we had an opportunity to appetizers and we couldn’t even get a bread basket until we ordered food.
The service was Very Slow and once again, it took way too long before our food was served.
I read reviews about this type of service, hoping it would be different for us, unfortunately it was not.
Lastly some of the food I ate had no flavor. I am not a person to add salt to my food but I did on the crab/corn cakes and the collard greens.

I don’t usually leave many reviews but unfortunately, this was not a great experience. It was my first time and will be my last time sad to say. I came for my 25th birthday dinner. Our reservation was at 6pm and we did not order until almost if not two hours later, and didn’t start getting food until almost 10. Longggg wait time, some of my guests did not get their food and ended up getting it to go, orders were mixed up, and food runner had an attitude by the end of the night. When I initially went and made a down payment, I was also shown a pre fix menu, but by the time the dinner came, no pre fix menu was made. It was two previously made menus shared between the two tables. One server seemed to be working the whole restaurant, seemed extremely understaffed. My guests who DID get their food liked it, I personally didn’t like it much however. I did hear from guests that the jerk wings were good as well. But my party was ruined sadly.

Since 2003, the brainchild of the husband-and-wife duo team, Albert and Yanick Ranieri, have opened this premier restaurant and martini bar located on Valley Street in South Orange. Upon entering and translating from the French, a “butterfly” insignia floated above the bar, illuminating the various hues of the 57 martini and specialty cocktails offered. The interior evoked a sophisticated and modern vibe, with the lighting being subtle. Reservations were made by one of our party members calling the restaurant yesterday for some of us as first-timers. Greeted by the host, a table was waiting for us. The menu merges American, Caribbean, French, and Italian cuisine, leaning toward Southern and Cajun-style dishes. As an appetizer, my partner, our friends and I decided on the corn and crab croquettes. For our main meal, we opted for Stuffed Jumbo Shrimp with Maryland Crab Meat, Jambalaya, Coq Au Vin, Organic Roasted Chicken Breast, and Linguine with Shrimp. A complimentary assortment of breads with butter started our meal, which some of us washed with French martini. The food was delicious, and the sauces were flavorful. However, there was a slight snafu with the wording of one of the items on the menu, which was brought to the manager’s attention. Listed was organic roasted chicken breast served with caramelized carrots, but what was received was the breast with part of the wings and carrots not caramelized. The service was wonderful, and our server was Mohammed. It was a nice time spent, which we could recommend.

This was my first and last time here. The server we had didn’t bother to tell us his name and was extremely uninterested in doing his job. The whole night he was acting like he really didn’t want to be there. One person from our group suggested this place because her past experiences had been great. Well she tasted the food and said ohhh they must have different cooks…The food was nothing to crave. If you are a ok with basic lack luster customer service, this is your spot! If you expect to be treated like you chose their restaurant over many other restaurants, Papillon 25 is not for you.
