What an amazing dining experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and full of character, the kind of place that feels both elevated and comfortable.

We started with the appetizer (pictured first), perfectly cooked shrimp tossed in a flavorful sauce and topped with just the right amount of crumbled cheese. It was light, rich, and packed with flavor, a great way to kick things off.

For the main course, the fried chicken (second photo) was absolutely incredible, crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and served with creamy mashed potatoes and roasted carrots that tied everything together. Comfort food done right.

The pasta (third photo) was a standout, with fresh, perfectly cooked noodles coated in a vibrant house-made red sauce with plenty of Parmesan and fresh herbs. It definitely has a little kick to it, so make sure you enjoy spicy dishes, but if you do, you will absolutely love it.

Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and every dish came out beautifully plated and full of flavor. You can tell there is real pride and craft in the kitchen here. We ate at the bar and Connor was awesome! Great drinks, super friendly and made great recommendations!

Highly recommend this spot, whether you are in the mood for a cozy date night, a special dinner with friends, or just want to enjoy amazing comfort food with a creative twist.

We had a lovely experience at Paper & Pencil last night. Our server Melissa was sweet, attentive and knowledgeable. We started with some appetizers: the baked brie with Granny Smith apples, and then recommended by our server Melissa, was the special chef’s appetizer which was a mushroom pâté on crostini topped with perfectly cooked fillet and goat cheese. Both were delicious. Our 3 main courses were the crab stuffed haddock over mashed potatoes with the vegetable of the day, green beans; the brisket macaroni and cheese with a side salad; and then a gumbo featuring chicken and andouille sausage with brown rice. Easily all three meals were a five out of five. The decor is warm and inviting, and the little Christmas touches really made it a special night. Deep Think Jazz Trio was phenomenal. Such an enjoyable experience as we dined. If you are dining out in Ticonderoga, Paper & Pencil has found its footing and is doing everything right.

Hidden gem! Really great food, solid mixed drinks, and service was on top of it. Ordered cocktail shrimp, crab cakes, fresh vine salad, Mac n cheese made with smoked Gouda, a Shirley temple, hotty totty, and Knox’s Reserve…everything was incredible! Atmosphere is on point with nice tables, chairs, wine display, bar area and upper seating. Owner made all the right choices from decor to food…only thing that could have made this better? Be located in town, but it’s not always that easy. This place is a must stop if you’re anywhere within 50miles!!

If you plan to get food in Ticonderoga this is the place to go. Food was fantastic. Staff friendly and accommodating. Atmosphere was incredible and the restaurant is gorgeous. All different types of seating as well, from bar to bar room to mezzanine to outdoor seating. We will 100% be back!

This is the best restaurant I’ve been to in the Lake George area. Well worth the trip up north from the village. I’ve been there twice now and both times were excellent. First time it was with a few friends waiting out a power outage at our cottage. We sat at the bar for drinks. The craft cocktails are just that …crafted to perfection. All with fresh cut garnish. There were five of us and we each ordered 2 different drinks from the menu, all were great. 2nd visit was for dinner and drinks, just two of us. The service was very attentive and friendly, the food was great and the craft cocktails, stellar once again. We had the crab cake appetizer, braised short ribs and salmon for mains Everything was great I highly recommend the Paper and Pencil. The last drink I ordered was the King’s Garden. This drink is amazing! It smells like a garden and has a perfect balance of all the ingredients. The atmosphere is nice too.

UPDATE: VISIT #3 WAS A DISASTER
Went back a third time, I mean, why not, I liked it so much the first two times. This time we had 5 people for dinner, made a 7:30 reservation. They seemed surprised when we showed up but we did get seated within about 5 minutes. After that it went to hell. After maybe 5-10 someone who never introduced herself poured us water. I took a chance and asked what they were out of, since ya know I’ve been here before & know the routine. The she told us about 4-5 things she ‘thought’ were out, then went away. She never said I’m your server, the kitchen is slammed, it’s going to be a few before I get back to you. So ….we waited and waited, no drink order, despite what looked like 2 host/hostess type people and 2 servers moving around the dining room no one looked at or acknowledged us. We never even got a drink order in!! I mean ok, your slammed, sell us some yummy drinks and we’ll wait happily, right? You might even sell an extra round or two …. but no. After about 20 minutes I asked who I thought might be the host, if we had a waitress and/or if I needed to get our own drinks from the bar….”no no we’ll take care of you”
ok the water server returned and was actually our waitress, still no introduction. Took our drink orders, came back for our dinner orders. We all ordered our choices, phew ….they had everything??? Nope….15 minutes later the hostess comes to find us to tell us they are out i
of chicken!!! All chicken, we had ordered fried chicken and chicken Marsala. They weren’t out of just one kind of chicken, all the chicken, on a Saturday!!! Has the head chef ever worked a restaurant on a Saturday before? I mean the most common item runs out on your busiest day? Didn’t you just get a food or before the weekend? I mean most restaurants take a food order before their busiest day, right? Then they even ruined the drinks Please note my prior review where I said the cocktails were crafted to perfection on my first two visits. Absolutely loved the bar service the first two times, it’s what brought me back. It’s what made me bring more people with me….sadly….who I assume to be the hostess(no one ever intro themselves all night) gave me a Pimm’s Cup made with ginger beer..It was brown. I was disgusting. I have never had a brown Pimm’s cup before, they’re usually pink. I had TWO Pimm’s cups at the paper and pencil on my previous visits and they were pink. But the hostess insisted for like 10 minutes that Pimm’s cups come with ginger beer. Literally arguing with me and my sister about it for about 10 minutes. She told me to Google it, I did :
2 ounces Pimm’s No. 1
1/2 ounce lemon juice, freshly squeezed
Ginger ale, to top
Garnish: cucumber slice
Garnish: mint sprig
Garnish: strawberry
Garnish: lemon wheel (optional)
Garnish: orange wheel (optional)
Sweetie, just so you know ginger beer is a lot different than ginger ale!! Please comment here if you’ve ever had a Pimm’s cup with ginger beer Everyone in my NOLA chat group agreed it’s just not done.
However, the food was delicious.

We had a great experience at Paper & Pencil! The renovation’s and atmosphere in this restaurant is amazing… very upscale in Ticonderoga!! It does have an outdoor seating area that would be great in the spring and summer… unfortunately it was raining the day of our visit. It is a farm to table restaurant, supporting local farmers!! The drink and cocktail menu was unique, both drinks we got were fantastic. The food was excellent, large portions. We got the fried chicken and crab cakes, unique parings and sides accompanied the meal. Overall we had an excellent experience. 10/10 recommend.

Hubby ordered appetizers for his meal (2) but they brought it out early and he had finished eating long before we even got our meals . His soup was lukewarm at best . He liked the clams but no bread to dip in that juice ? . A friend had a six oz steak that was about 3 inches around for $24 . His wife’s broccoli came on his plate . The chicken dish was enjoyed but also not hot . The salmon was good , not hot either
the overcooked broccoli’s leaving a lot to be desired. Ordering wine we found they had NO Chardonnay and one glass of Cab in the whole restaurant and several others were not available . The manager came over and said to understand this was a soft opening ( August 7 ) and that they may be out of a lot of things . At that point they have had five weeks to pull things together , we wish them well . The salmon was $26 the petite steak was $24 the chicken was $25 .
Overall the guys were hungry and we stopped for ice cream on the way home instead of having thier desserts .

Loved this place so much we ate there 3 times in one week! Everything was great, but I especially loved the butternut squash soup. I’m still dreaming about it a week later. Live bands every night we were there. Servers were extra friendly. This is no doubt the nicest restaurant in all of Ticonderoga!

Lovely new Ticonderoga restaurant. Went for lunch on a sunny fall Saturday. Very nice bar as you enter. We sat at the bar right away. Someone did a great job renovating this place, it’s a great looking room. Had the local Ledge Hill Boat Ale. With a a slice of lime, very tasty surprise selection! Apple squash soup was excellent. The chicken quesadilla was a generous size and full of flavor. The bartender acting as waitress was amazing. As the place wasn’t too busy the owner was quite helpful in showing us the in-house music and home automation system which was incredible! Customer next to us had the pork chop/brussels sprout choice and it looked like a real winner which he confirmed. Also saw a coffee/chocolate martini order being made for him which also looked fantastic.
The outdoor seating area overlooking the river will be very entertaining in the summer when we visit.
Must go back soon as this place is a serious foodie destination! Take a walk thru the park behind the place over the Frazier bridge after your meal. Gorgeous scenery all around.
