We like to find unique places to eat, and when searching for a restaurant, we came across Papaya’s Kitchen & Catering in Hooks, TX. The town is very small, so we were not sure what kind of restaurant we would find. The place was really clean and the owners were really nice and friendly. The food was served hot and in a timely manner. I had the special, chicken fried chicken with turnip greens and mashed potatoes. My wife had the Bubba burger with pineapple on it and sweet potato fries. If you’re in the area during lunch, this is a place where you will want to stop in and eat.

Categorically one of the best places to eat, especially in a Bowie County. The ingredients are fresh, and everyone that works there is so lovely & enthusiastic about the food. My dad says their Rocky Mountain oysters are the best he’s ever had. Though I can’t attest to those myself, I’ve never had a bad meal here!

The chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and Mac&cheese was amazing! Seasoned perfectly, not too much but enough to taste the flavors. The dessert bread pudding was even better than the meal, and the meal was great!
