A colleague and I were passing through and both really really loving Mexican cuisine decided on Papa’s. The salsa was delivered in the tiniest condiments containers- ok, strange but ok. Chips were not stale- so ok. The salsa was red- thats as far as I go with calling this salsa. A can of Rotel would have been way better. Young kids would have liked this, I guess, very insipid.
We each ordered Fajita Chicken Chimichangas, rice and beans came on the platter as well. The chicken had zero seasoning- couldn’t see or taste any salt, pepper, or any seasoning mix at all, it was just boiled chicken. It even had the just boiled chicken taste- IYKYK. The chimichangas were not fried in the least- they were just rolled up tortillas, boiled chicken with no seasoning mix, no onions, no peppers, no flavor. We ordered queso on too not red sauce- thank goodness- it was the only flavor for the entire meal. The beans could have been great had they been maybe black beans- La Costena brand is a thousand times better than the bland plain canned refried beans we received. The rice was the same. We looked for corn, red seasoning flakes- none! We both said immediately- THERE ARE NO MEXICANS IN THIS KITCHEN! Wow! Can not believe this place is in business. But given the small area, lack of dining- ok.
The exterior and interior were nice. The , also insipid, waitresses were sweeping, folding napkins and waitress duties. Our waitress was Virginia, friendliest one we encountered. The others looked as we smiled, but non smiled or spoke back to either of us. The young man taking our $25 was very indifferent as well. All in all- we left the restaurant and area very shocked. Most Mexican restaurants in Arkansas being sisters to Texas- are very good. We honestly have never in our lives had such poor Mexican food food, and such strange interactions.
Headed back home ASAP!! Good by unfriendly Arkansas town!!

12/21/22: Back again to have a wonderful meal. I had the delicious burrito with fajita meat and sour cream on top. Hearty meal. Excellent service as well by Sara. Highly recommend this place.

12/2020: My cheese burrito was perfect. The waiting staff is so kind and with multiple take checks. Worth a stop for any Mexican/American food lover!

Everytime we eat here, both mom and me feel sick later. Service is the slowest service, so if you’re in a hurry, or don’t want to wait over 30 minutes for your food, then go elsewhere. There was not a wait for a table, just for our drinks and food. I hadn’t been there in quite a while, so my husband, mom and I decided to give it another try. Same problems occurred. Extremely slow service (and there wasn’t even very many people there, so it wasn’t busy. There was no reason for such slow service.) And of course, later that evening mom and I both felt sick to our stomach. I won’t go back to Pappas.

My child and I went to eat at papas at 7:45 pm on a Saturday night. They close at 10 pm. There were only 2 others tables that had people at them in the entire restaurant. After 15 min someone came over and took our drink order, and we still did not have chips and salsa. We ordered a yellow queso as well and it took over 10 more min to get our drinks and queso and they finally brought chips out. The queso was cold and smelled old. I took a bite and it was awful. I have eaten this queso for many years and there was definitely something wrong with it. By the time our server came back to the table she said I can reheat it for you, I said I don’t think that’s the problem, it tastes terrible and smells awful. She proceeded to say they had had 4 other tables send it back that night bc it was bad but they were still serving it! We ordered 2 street tacos and a quesadilla and 50 min later (we were the only ones there) still did not have our food. The server was awful and kept forgetting our drinks etc. my quesadilla came with sour cream sauce and it was thick and COLD, she took it back to re-heat and never brought it back. I had to get up and go to the kitchen to find it. The service was absolutely horrible! We were there a hour and a half! When we went to pay, apparently only one person can check you out and they couldn’t find her. Had to go to the back bc she was eating and it took her forever to come check us out. I used to eat at papas all the time and used them to cater for work but will NEVER again! Such a shame and disappointment! Not sure what has happened but they need to get it fixed!

I like this place. The food is good, and our server Mckenzie was so sweet. She kept checking with us to see if we needed anything.

I’ve eaten at a ton of Mexican restaurants in my almost 50 years of life. This place by far was the worst. Food taste awful. We felt like we were gonna vomit if we ate one more bite. (My husband)…We had the worst taste in our mouths for a while. We had to go to our cabin and brush our teeth. The service was the only great thing. Fajitas were disgusting. Bland,no seasoning at all NONE!, awful flavor…salsa tast like Marinara….I dont know how this place is even open…im shocked.
