The location was excellent and very easy to find, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable The restaurant itself was clean, well-maintained, and had a welcoming atmosphere. The service was also wonderful, attentive, friendly, and efficient without feeling rushed

The food came out beautifully presented, and you could tell care was put into how each dish was prepared and plated ✨ Presentation wise, it definitely got me excited to dig in. For my personal taste, though, the dumplings and wonton soup were just slightly lacking in flavor and could have used a bit more seasoning or depth.

That said, the chili oil was absolutely delicious ️ It added the perfect kick and really elevated the dish. I found myself reaching for it often and it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the meal.

Overall, it was a pleasant experience with great service and ambiance. With a bit more flavor in some of the things I ordered it would be exceptional. I’m still glad I visited and enjoyed my time there

Because the 4.7 rating, I had higher expectations for it…

Out of 3 dishes, only the boil dumpling was decent.
The beef was tough in the bee noodle
The ribs was small and the sauces feels like glaze on instead of cook together… The carrot butterfly cutting was cute

For the prices I was expecting to be a little more food and better taste….

I love Papa’s Dumplings!

Started going to their farmers market stand in Orinda and Walnut Creek a few years back. Was so excited to hear they finally opened a brick and mortar spot. Finally got around to trying it today and wasn’t disappointed.

Came for a quick lunch and ordered the cucumber salad and chicken potstickers. The potstickers are huge and generously filled. The cucumber salad is fresh and so flavorful. The chili oil just made it all the more better!

Service was so attentive and caring. Constantly got water refills and check ins about my dining experience which was appreciated without being overbearing.

I will definitely return to try some other items soon. I wish they had a spot in the east bay but it’s worth the drive for me.

The food was flavorful without being salty. The atmosphere was bright, neat, and clean including the restrooms. My favorite part of the meal was all the delicious homemade wrappers and noodles. They were so bouncy and chewy! I’d visit anytime we’re downtown especially since it’s so close to the library.

Upon walking in, my initial impression was that the place had a cozy and bistro-like atmosphere. The waitress was very friendly and took the time to explain the menu. There were many pictures on the wall to help customers visualize different dishes. The open concept kitchen allowed customers to watch the chefs make buns and dumplings. We ordered the buns (one pork and one vegetarian), pork pot stickers, and cucumber salad. The buns were tasty and fluffy. The pot stickers could be more crispy. The cucumber salad was good. We spent $20 per person for this meal.

It’s a very nice place and the service was very good. The food was served quickly.
We ate Zha Jiang noodles, pork potstickers, spicy wonton, and steamed beef dumplings. None of them disappointed, very delicious! The noodles were springy and the sauce was very good. The Pork potstickers are my two-year-old daughter’s favorite. We’ll definitely come back!

Beef Brisket Pulled Noodles: 2/5
Boiled Dumplings: 3.5/5
Sweet & Sour Crispy Pork: 3/5
Cleanliness: 2/5

The place looks new, but the overall experience fell short. The food was mixed, which can be a matter of personal taste, but the cleanliness definitely needs improvement. I hope they address it, because the restaurant has potential.

Great food and warm service! Been here twice so far and was not disappointed. I would highly recommend the pork ribs and the cucumber salad. The dumplings in chili oil were nice too.

Being a person of Chinese heritage, I have an extremely high bar when I’m eating Chinese food. That’s why I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was today when we ate dinner there. It’s not just the vegetarian potstickers or the steamed beef dumplings…the spicy chicken in soup, woods ear, vegetable with poached shrimp—every single dish was just absolutely delicious! The waitress recommended noodle to go with the spicy chicken, and I’m so glad she did. The noodle was so chewy, it must have been hand pulled. Don’t let their website deceive you. They have way more items in their menu at the restaurant than what’s listed on their website. If you yearn for authentic Northern Chinese food, Papa’s dumpling won’t disappoint!
