Excellent food and delicious margarita! The tableside gauc was different from what we are used to, but it was tasty! (It was like a salsa-gauc.) I had the spicy cream chicken and it was fantastic. Our waitress was great as well. We will definitely be back!

Came in on a Monday evening passing through Shelby. Looking for something to eat, I saw Papas and Beer. We love this chain of Mexican California style food and have eaten there many times in other places. The food was off, including their salsa. There was no table side guacamole because the avocados were hard, bummer!!! Food did not sit well. The meat was not fresh. ACP with enchilada sauce. Do not recommend it. Friendly service gives this location 2 stars.

The aroma when I walked in was that of wounderful fajitas, the salsa bar looked incredible I knew I was in for a treat. We were meet at our table with chips and a hit bean dip. We ordered the table side guacamole, which the server did a fantastic job preparing. The main course was also excellent as was the service even though they were a little shorthanded.

Similar menu to our local Papas and Beer. We were seated quickly, the service was not extremely quick but it looked like there were only two servers and we weren’t in a big hurry. The food was good. My son got enchiladas rancheras, I got a fajita salad, and my friend got a chili relleno. We were all pleased with our food. Drinks were good as well.

This is one of my favorite places to eat with my family whenever I get home for home time. Most of the menu is in Spanish but if you ask the lady or gentleman server about the dish they are more than happy to give you details. My family loves the appetizers. We do like to try different dishes, so it’s a lot of fun because we share with each other. It is a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. It is nice hearing others laughing and having a great time also.

I dined in a few years ago, but the memory is alive and well due to the horrible experience, and cringe every time I drive past the restaurant. I had gotten the Rojo burrito and it was so salty that I couldn’t even eat a quarter of it. I ended up just eating the refried beans on the side. The service was horrible. I remember having to ask for silverware because none were set out on my table, and no one came by to refill my water or even ask about the food, so I got up and asked the staff to assist. The only thing going for this restaurant is the atmosphere and scenery.

A regular of 2 Asheville, NC Papas & Beers. This location is good, but not to the same quality for the meals or service. The chicken on the Pollo Loco was cut very thin causing a slight overcooked and dry dish. The sauce tasted good. The carnitas tacos were very greasy as if much fat was left on the cuts. The meals looked plentiful, but upon eating each they were much less in quantity. An adequate meal. Have always recommended this restaurant company. Not sure yet if I would give the thumbs up on this location. Last the margarita had an overpowering mix and never found a hint of tequila in the drink. The establishment was very clean and did not have many customers at the time we visited. The staff was consistently polite and provided everything we asked for.
