Updated August 13th, 2023: In the aftermath of what has now been deemed the deadliest wildfire in U.S. history, the staff, ownership, and merchants of Papa’aina and the Pioneer Inn are left with nothing. The entire historic district of Lahaina, the residential dwellings, and irreplaceable artifacts of the area have all been completely decimated. Please consider donating to one or all of the verified organizations assisting survivors in what has now become the new way of life for Lahaina. The link for the GoFundMe specifically benefitting Pioneer Inn & Papa’aina employees can be found on this page. It’s with heartfelt and heartbroken gratitude that we thank you for your patronage and compassion. Mahalo.

The best Sunday brunch! Chef Lee Anne Wong has completely transformed the pioneer inn. The food is fresh and delicious with an ever changing menu. You can taste the fresh local ingredients! The French toast is next level along with the Ramen. Order a bunch and share with the table.

Absolutely LOVE this place! My partner and i have been looking for “our brunch spot” and i think we’ve found it here We don’t even drink but we sit at the bar each time we come. The bartenders are super friendly, helpful, and great guys. Joe, Mitch, and Shane. The food has been phenomenal every time. HIGHLY highly recommend this place to locals and those visiting!

As a fan of top chef I was very excited to visit Papa’aina while visiting Maui. We visited twice during our trip, once for breakfast and once for dinner. For dinner we had a reservation, but for breakfast we walked in very early. All of the food was very impressive! Everything was super fresh and incredibly flavorful. Each dish had something that surprised us and we absolutely loved it. My personal highlights were both the breakfast dishes, the special omelet and mahi mahi eggs Benedict, the heirloom tomato salad (prepared literally perfectly, I’ll never forget that vinaigrette), and the beignet desert. Oh and the crudo! I cannot wait to visit Maui again so I can eat here ♥️

Nice place with harbor views and laid back atmosphere. Visited for breakfast. Staff was warm and friendly. Breakfast menu looks like someone wants to be fancy with the menu. Fancy stuff is good, but including a few more basic and/or local choices would be great too. I had corn flake crusted french toast. Very good, but I would have liked it better without the whipped cream (just my preference).

We were here two weeks ago for breakfast. Out of our entire Maui trip this was one of, if not the, best meals we had on the island! We sat in the back courtyard which was quiet, peaceful, and absolutely beautiful. We got a round of drinks to start our vacation off right and we’re not disappointed with the bloody Mary and salty dog (both had gin substitutions for the vodka).

Our server was fantastic! I can’t remember her name…but she was a fellow Californian and had some killer recommendations for the menu and other local places to check out. To eat, we got the French toast and crispy ramen – I normally don’t go for sweet breakfast, but as we were on vacation I went for it and WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! The flavor, texture, and presentation was on point. The crispy ramen was unique, but super good. The egg was perfectly cooked, the pork was delicious, and the noodles were crispy but also softened up if it sat in the sauce.

I would definitely recommend stopping by here for breakfast if you are on the West side of the island!

Menu is full of wonderful sounding choices, and the food is delicious. Just missed 5 stars because our food (for 2) did not come out together, which we saw happen at other tables as well. We recommend for brunch and we will be back.

I came here for breakfast and it was damn delicious. Loved the courteousness of the staff. People here are so welcoming. Ordered Egg Sandwich Bagel with Potatoes on side – can be customized however you want it to be. The ambiance is great in this restaurant with vintage and rustic theme all over the place.

If you are looking for a unique breakfast experience and dish then I HIGHLY recommend this place. I learned only after going that the head chef has won a season of top chef or something equivalent to. We started out with the breakfast Ramen and I was absolutely blown away. The maple butter in the broth was just another layer to this magnificent flavor already in this dish. The second choice we ordered was the mapo moco which was another amazing twist on an already great classic. Highly recommend and would love to try this place at a later time for dinner.

So we ended up going for Sunday brunch Papa’aina. The wait at 9:30am (15-20min) was not bad at all (could it be because of the Maui marathon???). We put our name down on the Yelp! kiosk in front of the hostess station and went for a walk across the street to look at the huge Banyan tree and the tourists lining up to board their ships for excursions. The service was great, the food was creative and delicious. Our server said the two most popular dishes are the breakfast ramen and the french toasts. Had the ramen, mushroom toast, and fish of the day bowl (sauce is a little spicy). The presentations were beautiful. The vibe was good, casual and relaxing. Took a stroll down Front Street afterwards to do the touristy stuff. Would have loved to also had time to try their dinner.

Beautiful spot right by the Lahaina harbor and the banyan tree that serves a nice breakfast/brunch. Some dishes were amazing—I would go back for the crunchy/flaky malasada alone (and I don’t even like doughnuts!!). Some dishes were a bit disappointing—the French toast was a similar flavor profile to the malasada but not as great texture (it had an odd, panko-like outside, and was pretty dry if it weren’t for the butter on top). Pancakes were very thick/fluffly with a gigantic bowl of lilikoi (passionfruit) cream. Next time I’d get another malasada and try out their famous breakfast ramen.
