I went to the Papa Johns Pizza in Long Beach with someone, and the whole visit turned out to be way more disappointing than I expected. I hoped the pizza would taste better than I remembered, but the moment I tried it, I realized again how much I really hate the taste of their pizza in general. The flavor felt flat and artificial, and nothing about it made me want another bite. It stuck with me in the worst way, and not in a fun or memorable way like some places manage to do.
The atmosphere didn’t help either. It didn’t feel lively or comfortable at all, and the whole place felt rushed and dull. I didn’t enjoy waiting for my order, and nothing about the environment made the experience any better. When the pizza came out, I hoped maybe the look of it would make up for the taste, but it didn’t look appealing or fresh, and the texture didn’t feel right. Eating it honestly felt like a waste of time and money.
I’ve only been to this Papa Johns location once in my life, and after this visit, I don’t think I’ll ever want to go back. It didn’t give me anything enjoyable, and it definitely didn’t make me feel excited or creative the way other places do. I’m giving this place a 1‑star review because the taste of the pizza was the biggest problem for me, and that’s the whole point of going to a pizza place. If the main thing they serve doesn’t taste good, then nothing else matters. This was one of the most disappointing food experiences I’ve had in a long time, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who cares about enjoying their meal.

Overall: We ordered early, and then ordered early, and they were still late.
We wanted the pizza at 6:30 on Halloween for our kids and their friends to eat before heading out, so we sent an order in on the 30th for delivery time of 6, thinking it would be here by 6:30 at the latest, nope! I drove down there at 6:45 and the order had left and didn’t arrive until 7:05.
Granted, I understand it was Halloween and there was a ball game on, but if I was managing the situation I would have padded for that making sure there was 1 crew member for every position plus 3 or 4 extras in case anyone called out.

This is laughable, but it’s not. Today is Sunday night and my usual spot Little Coyote Pizza and Ameci’s pizza were closed. My daughter wanted pizza and the only pizza spot open was papa John’s. I ordered a large pepperoni pizza on thin crust. I paid $22.59. I then noticed a sign that read one item large pizza for $11.99. I questioned one of the staff members. Why I was overcharged. He stated did you ask for the special? I over paid $10 for a pizza because i didn’t say the word “Special”. This is a message to management. If you are teaching your employees to rip off customers, well good luck doing business in this manner.

I ordered pick up through the app. It was ready in 15mins. The location had plenty of parking. Wings and pizza was hot and made just right. Love their garlic dip sauce too

I drive for Uber and I was picking up an order for a client. I was communicating via text with the client about their order. They asked for more crushed pepper. The person I dealt with which was a middle-aged woman with black hair, said ” no, the order says only one packet ” I advised her that I was speaking with the client via text, and in order to give the customer what they wanted I wanted two more packets. Before she could say anything I started pulling quarters out of my purse, and asked her…”how much do I owe you for these two.” She didn’t know how much it was, she had to look it up in the register. She charged me 11 cents per packet. So that was 22 cents, I gave her a quarter and told her she could keep the change for her tip. It’s pathetic when someone is so tight with two packets of crushed peppers. When the order was over $25.

This is usually my go-to pizza place as it’s right by my house and I usually get good quality. But my recent order was sub-par. My thin crust pizza was overloaded with far too much cheese and the crust seemed undercooked. I couldn’t even pick up the slices to eat it. I think the pizza makers should be trained better how to make thin crust pizzas.

Let me start by saying, we USED to order Papa John’s at least once a week. Key word being USED TO. I made an online order at 12:00 pm and was told the pizza would be delivered at 12:34-12:44. At 12:30 I once again checked the online “tracker” only to find my order marked as delivered. So I gave it 5 minute and waited. I called the store and spoke with a gentleman who reassured me it would be there ASAP. I have 4 kids who were watching the clock like hawks with hopes of pizza on their hungry little minds. I gave it another 10 minutes and called back and spoke with the same gentleman (and I use that term loosely). He claimed they were extremely busy and that I shouldn’t worry as my pizza was on the way. I asked him why was it marked as delivered if it wasn’t in fact delivered and I was not given an answer. So I asked for a refund to which I was told that the driver would be called and told not to deliver the pizza. Again, I asked how could a pizza be delivered that has already been marked as delivered? Jose, it turns out, is the “manager on duty” and wasn’t able to verify that my refund was in fact issued and also wouldn’t give me his full name or employee number. As I began typing this, the delivery driver that was told not to deliver my pizza shows up not once, but twice with pizza that has been marked as delivered, but stopped by the “manager on duty.” If my store was busy I sure wouldn’t be wasting my drivers time on a pizza I told him not to deliver twice.

Initially a very bad experience, ordered an XL 2 topping special online for pickup. When I got it home, NO toppings. I called and got a bunch of attitude. Tried again a few days later and spoke to the manager Alphonso who made us a replacement pizza that was very good. We will be back. Thanks Alphonso

We really like Papa John’s thin crust pizza.
My husband and I have different pizza topping tastes, so we order 2 pies.
1st time we ordered through an off site CS operator. I ordered a pepperoni with hf pineapple half olive. WE GOT HALF OLIVE & PINAPPLE HALF PEPPERONI.
THE OLIVE PINAPPLE SIDE UNETABLE!
WASTE OF MONEY.
THE OTHER NIGHT I TRIED AGAIN.
We wanted 2 med pizzas. There was a deal. The same lady was the CS operator.
We asked for thin crust. She told us, it only comes in large. So I paid 10. Extra dollars to get more pizza than we wanted…JUST TO GET THIN CRUST! ( THE REG CRUST DOUGHY AND UN DONE IN THE MIDDLE)
Got home… they got the toppi gs right, this time. BUT IT WASNT THIN!
WE HATED THE UNDONE DOUGHY CRUST.
Papa John’s is a great value….. if they could just get the order right!!!!!
I’m making my own pizza. Nice thin CRUST
No out of country customer service!
