Y’all. If you like shrimp and pasta you’ve got to try the SHRIMP PROVENCAL W/SACCHETTI at Papadaddy’s in Mercer. This was the best dish I’ve had in months! Great country diner, great menu, great people. Off the beaten path but worth the journey!

I was really hoping for an amazing spot. I was so excited to eat here. A little hole in the wall place in a small town. Boy, was I let down. We did go with a party. A party they said they had no problem handling. It was 35 people. Waitress was quick to greet us and get our drink orders as we filtered in. That was great. Then came time to order food. Specials were written on a piece of paper, but with no details on it. Very limited options, but that’s fine. We were the first to order. Got the chicken a safe options in my opinion. My husband got the hamburger steak. Mil and fil got the bbq plate. Fast forward a hour, no food in sight. The waitress comes out and ask who had collard greens because they were out. Okay, no big deal. We had a big party. A hour and 30 minutes later, food comes pouring out. Everyone is getting their food. By this point, I’m straving. My husband gets his hamburger steak. And I knew from the look of his mine was gonna be horrible. His hamburger steak was burnt black. He literally squirted half the thang of ketsup on it and just ate it. It was so dry that he could barely swallow it. He was straving and didn’t wanna wait any linger for food. My food still hasn’t come out. Everyone else has theirs. I asked the waitress when mine and my daughters were coming. She said they were finishing jt up. Okay, no biggie, I wait. 15 minutes later, she brings my daughters food. And it’s freaking cold. I then get mine. It’s cold. No warmth to it at all. As I’m looking at my food the it does not look good. My potatoes and onions didn’t look like potatoes and onions. Everyone at the table thought they were mushrooms. The mac and cheese tasted like a tv dinner mac and cheese. I nicely ask the waitress to just take it back and just take it off the bill. My daughter asked if they had a microwave and to just heat it up. They did. Her food was gone 10 minutes and wasn’t hot when they brought it back. She ate hers because she was hungry. When I asked for bread for our table after she had given it to all the others, she huffed at me. The rolls, which was gonna be my supper, was so dry you couldn’t swallow without taking a drink. This place can not handle parties of people. The food was horrible. Oh, and the water and tea tasted like metal. And not just a little. Like you had metal in the bottom of your cup. Everyone at my table could taste it. I get it old building and all, but it may be time for some new pipes. I do not recommend the bbq plate. Hamburger steak, potatoes and onions, Monterey chicken, mac and cheese, fries, rolls, tea, or water.

Genuinely great place to eat. Delicious country cooking, Americana done right. Burgers were big and juicy, fried green tomatoes were well coated and crispy, apple pie comes by the pound, you get a slice of apple pie and it’ll fill up a standard dinner plate, and its goood apple pie too. Everything was cooked fresh. The atmosphere is endearing, its not fancy by any means, but you can feel the history in there. Lots of family memories, lots of patriotism too, never seen so much pro-military, pro-Christian stuff in a restaurant before. It felt like if one of my cousins owned a diner or something, its definitely a place youd find in Mercer. Service was great, we had reservations for a family gathering, had the whole place to ourselves. A tad slow, could chalk it up to prep time and personal business for the owner, but they did seem just a bit underprepared for all of us. Wait tine wasnt the worst though. I think a little bit more staff might help, maybe the young man who took our order could find a nice girl to date, bring her in for labor . All in all, great spot, lotta history, if youre on a road trip and find yourself in donwtown Mercer, stop by and get your belly full, wont regret it.

Everything was so delicious. Always is every time we go. The only bad thing was a group of young boys that were hanging outside and they came in and were cursing every other word and being a little loud. They were asked to be quiet. They didn’t like it, so they were very distinctly told to leave.
The workers then came around and apologized and explained what happened. They were so nice.

Fantastic, grandma’s-recipe home cooked style food here, well worth a detour from the highway if you’re passing through anywhere nearby.
We tried the catfish, Papa burger, fried green tomatoes, apple pie, and cheesecake, and everything was top-tier delicious and cooked with skill and fresh ingredients.
You could really taste the flavor – the tomatoes on the burger were garden fresh, the apples in the pie were fresh and flavorful, you could taste fresh egg and cream cheese in the cheesecake, and everything was seasoned and flavored perfectly.
We’ve made it a tradition to go here anytime we’re near, and if you did the same, I’m sure you wouldn’t regret it.

Good home cooked food. The ranch dressing tasted like it was made from scratch and was yummy. I had spaghetti w/ meatballs and it was okay but it’s hard to find any good spaghetti because everyone makes it different.
The service was good but when we went to pay no one told us that you paid in another room. You couldn’t see it from where we were seated so there was some confusion because we just thought it was the kitchen. The waitress finally came over to the table and told us but she did take our credit card and ran it for us since we didn’t know. We aren’t from the town, so when they bring you the check they need to let you know where to pay. She sort of acted like it was inconvenient because she told us that since she was busy we could have waited a while before she noticed we had the card on top of the check. She was nice when she said it, but it was obvious that she felt like she didn’t have time to do it. We did tell her we would take it, that we just didn’t know we were supposed to. Other than that we enjoyed it.

Charming old building in the middle of nowhere with pretty good steaks. Clean atmosphere, nice staff and a talented muralist dd the walls. Worth taking a first date for a pleasant outing.
