From the moment you walk into the resturant it’s such a beautiful and homey atmosphere. The waiters were very attentive and made sure to help me with all my needs. The food was very delicious. You rarely find places in New York that serve authentic Italian food and this was one of the best. Overall I had a very good experience and I can’t wait to go back.

Paola’s Osteria in NYC is Italian dining at its finest. Their specialty, the Capricciosa pizza, is pure perfection — layered with tender prosciutto cotto, artichokes, mushrooms, and olives on a beautifully charred Neapolitan crust. The flavors are balanced, authentic, and deeply satisfying — exactly what a true Capricciosa should be.

The Margherita was equally divine, letting the fresh mozzarella, tomato, and basil shine in simplicity. Dessert was the sweetest finale: creamy pistachio and vanilla gelati paired with a light, luscious tiramisù topped with chocolate and fresh mint. With crisp Lurisia sparkling water to complement the meal, the experience felt like dining in Naples without leaving NYC.

Paola’s Osteria is a true gem — the Capricciosa with prosciutto cotto is worth the trip alone, but the entire menu earns a well-deserved five stars.

From the moment you open the door at Paola’s Osteria you are greeted with such warmth. It sets the tone for the experience you are about to have at this family owned restaurant. I absolutely love pasta and have been blown away by the dishes. Seasoned to perfection, fresh ingredients and so yummy. I also applaud the way the artichokes were cooked and prepared. Any and everyone at Paola’s are accommodating and kind. I clean my plate every time and I have smiles for days. I can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend!

A friend and I popped in here for lunch and were very pleasantly surprised! The service was wonderful (wait staff attentive and helpful) and the restaurant was very quaint on the inside.

Now onto the food; we had the eggplant Parmesan and the Tartufata pizza (mushrooms, freshly shaved Parmesan, shaved truffles) and both were excellent. Very light yet filling at the same time. The red sauce on the eggplant parm was excellent too. They had high chairs and were very accommodating to children as well.

My ONLY qualm would be that they didn’t have any changing tables in their bathrooms for babies and no countertops either where you can put them down on.

I wanted an Italian meal after leaving the Guggenheim Museum (it was about a 3 minute walk). I dined alone. The service was quick and the meal (Salmon with purple cabbage) was good. My only wish was for warm bread (even though my waiter said it was warm, it arrived to me cold) and a non alcoholic drink menu (the bartender came to see me about non alcoholic drinks when I was 3/4 into my meal).

I read previous reviews about the lack of customer service and while I personally didn’t have any issues (my waiter was great), I can see how rude service may be interpreted to others. There wasn’t a follow-up/check in when eating my meal (no biggie to me but maybe to others), my waiter did forget my straw (again no biggie to me since I grabbed the one returning from the restroom) and the staff aren’t overly friendly. A manager (my assumption) did ensure that I was receiving service when I first sat down.

Restroom was also very clean, spacious by NY standards and had paper towels rather than a hand dryer.

Bad service sets the tone immediately, and everything that follows only reinforces the initial frustration. From the moment you arrive at Paola’s Osteria, it feels as though guests are an inconvenience rather than a priority. The staff are rude and servers routinely vanish for long stretches. Simple requests take multiple reminders, and diners are often left scanning the room for anyone willing to acknowledge them. The indifference is unmistakable and sets a poor foundation for the entire meal.

The food offers no recovery. Prices suggest thoughtful, well-executed Italian cooking, yet what arrives at the table is consistently underwhelming. Pastas are bland and under-seasoned, fish dishes are dry and forgettable, and bread arrives cold, an almost unforgivable misstep for an Italian restaurant. Most egregious are the pizzas: wildly overpriced for their size and quality, yet somehow still undercooked, with limp centers and dough that never fully sets. Charging a premium for pizza that can’t clear the most basic execution bar is hard to defend.

In a city overflowing with excellent Italian restaurants, Paola’s Osteria stands out for its complacency. It assumes diners will accept poor service, inflated prices, and sloppy execution. They shouldn’t. Better options are abundant, even just a few blocks away.

The food was very good. No complains there. The prices on the bill suddenly appeared higher for some items than the ones presented on the menu. Not by much, like 4-5%, but why be sneaky and not be forward with that? Just leaves a bitter taste. The service was lacking. The waiters are Spanish speaking with very poor English, and apparently are not well trained to inquire periodically if the customers are in need of something during the meal. Maybe it is just an NYC rudeness?
