Went yesterday for lunch & the food was horrible. I will not try it again. I had what I thought was dressing but they said it was chicken & dumplings. I tried the squash & zucchini…it was basically raw. The Mac & cheese was about the only thing that was decent. The cornbread was hard & stayed in the oven way too long. The buttermilk pie lacked flavor…very bland. The corn needed to boil a little more as well. Needless to say I didn’t eat 80% of my plate & still ended up sick.

Great decor! Tasty sides! The chicken was especially good. So was the country fried steak. On point!

Good soul food in the Legacy Museum. Mac and cheese was amazing. Smothered Chicken and the rest of my sides were okay.

Traveled out of state to try traditional southern food. The collard greens, cornbread, Mac n cheese and catfish was amazing. Long lines but worth the wait. Even locals have vouched this restaurant to be really good.

How could anyone give this place good scores!!! Service is poor. Absolutely no customer service at all. Food presented seems old. For this place to sit in the middle of historical museums it should represent black people in a better way. Your staff needs to know how to greet people and food needs to be prepared and ready.

At first with it being cafeteria style, I wasn’t expecting much. Don’t let that fool you! It was probably the best fried chicken I’ve had in my entire life. They were out of thighs when I ordered so I got a breast and it was still absolutely scrumptious. Perfectly seasoned and the breading was crispy and delicious but not overly greasy or salty like some places. It was perfect. The fried okra is also out of this world! Perfectly crispy and yummy, I’m sure it was freshly breaded and fried. I ate around 3:30 and it was all still very fresh, it hadn’t been sitting out all afternoon or anything. Yum. I can’t wait to come back. This was the best meal I had in Alabama.

This place was really amazing. They cooked us fresh pork chops and chicken wings. The food was great the servers were friendly and I would go here again for sure. The prices were decent. It’s not outrageously high. To top it all off the bathrooms were clean. If I had to give one negative the table we went to wasn’t cleaned off but honestly for a cafeteria style eatery it was great.
