Panera claims to use fresh, clean food, but my experience with the last couple of salads I’ve gotten here have been anything but fresh. Today I had rotten, black edged lettuce all through my Caesar salad-almost a third of it rotten. The worst part: this was my REMAKE! Apparently the cook staff can’t recognize rotten produce and served the exact same salad i got previously, like there was nothing wrong. For an $8 side salad size salad, that’s pitiful. I think mcdonalds might have fresher lettuce.

I was already a bit thrown off by the price when I paid, but when we got our food, the baguettes were a bit stale, the steak sandwich was cold on the inside and my boyfriend got a teriyaki bowl with basically no rice in it. The staff were friendly though and the food was ready pretty quick. Probably wouldn’t come back though unfortunately.

Tonight, at 5:00 p.m., the food was great! The cashier forgot to give me a cup for my drink. Very expensive! I got a toasted sandwich. Was very good! And broccoli cheddar soup is the best! Sitting was without atmosphere. I used the restroom after eating, and it was a disappointing experience! No one had cleaned it in hours, or all day! If I ever go back, (and I don’t anticipate it!) I’ll never go to the restroom to clean up and wash my hands.

Generally I don’t care to leave negative input, it is often not helpful and more often than not harmful. I feel however that I need to say a few words. The cost of food has gone up, in particular the cost of eating out. That’s why when I stop at Panera and order a you pick 2 and pay 20 dollars for it I expect my food to be in the bag when I get home. Two times in the past 7 days I’ve ordered at this Panera, both times when I get home items are missing from my order. I finally called today cause I was just so disappointed, how hard is it to put bread in a bag? The manager was polite and offered me free food in return, but the real truth here is I don’t want FREE food… I want the food I already paid for! Seriously folks DO better.

UPDATE: DEC 26. STILL loving Panera. My wife and I stopped in for lunch. She had a bowl of chili and I had a cup of “ten vegetable soup” and a steak with white cheddar sammy. Everything was just as expected – delicious, fresh, healthy and filling. Service was fast and friendly. We dined in. Plenty of available tables. It’s cool when your day out shopping or taking care of business is complemented by a good experience at Panera. Pics attached.
