Even when you order fruity in the restaurant, they give it to you and to go boxes. Absolutely no one is running the front counter. Tables are never wiped down. There’s actually a bucket of wipes, expecting customers to wipe their own tables. Employees are sitting on their phone while dishes, pile up and look at me like I’m crazy when I ask for a plate. I got bread with my soup and the bread was extremely stale. My boyfriend got an apple and his apple was literally dirty. Like had dirt on it. I have never been to a worse Panera bread. McDonald’s has higher standards. There’s also no music going so the vibe is so weird.
This one, not so much, my order was not put in correctly and I was very clear about NO tomato, (literally only thing I asked for) was a very simple order.
I got the new steak and mozzarella sandwich. So I’m waiting for them to call my name and even actively listening 20 ft away I never heard them. Finally I go and check and it’s just sitting there. First thing I notice is tomato, at this point I just said I’ll take it off myself. Get to my table and the baguette I ordered to go with my soup was extremely cold on the inside like they just pulled it out of fridge or it just thawed or something. I had 2 total and both very cold to the point of not wanting to eat them.
The sandwich was “ok” but very little steak and wasn’t very hot, the “melty mozz” as they describe it, was not melted at all. Look at my receipt and it says accuracy matters and they will fix it right away and give you something for your troubles and I got nothing of the sort. So ya just all and all not a good experience.
Not even kidding – 40 mins later I was walking out with a full refund but no food at all. Turns out the kiosk will let you order but when they get it in the back to make a salad (30 mins after ordering) I was told they were going to make it without the lettuce. What is a salad without lettuce? Here is the description – imagine this without romaine…
Chicken raised without antibiotics, romaine, fresh avocado and cilantro, grated Parmesan and Caesar dressing, drizzled with chipotle aioli and topped with blue corn tortilla strips.
They were planning on giving me a bowl with chicken, avocado and dressing – which wouldn’t have been all bad…but when paying $13 for a salad that would have been pretty bad.
No employee said anything to anyone else in the store – everyone needed a refund. When the “manager” said it wasn’t their fault and blamed the kiosk, I said well why don’t you at the very least up a sign up letting people know you don’t have lettuce? She stopped working on my refund to call someone from the back to “bring me some paper and a pen right now”. She then, in front of me…before working on my refund, created a sign to hang in the window and had the other employee hand it up.
What could be worse? I get a survey email asking about my experience. I don’t usually fill them out but I wanted someone to know how poor the whole situation was at the store. Here is the response I received:
We always aim to offer the very best food and service, but based on your recent feedback, we clearly missed the mark this time. Thank you for sharing details about your experience. We understand it’s frustrating when you don’t get exactly what you ordered. Your feedback has been shared with the cafe team and is very important to them. On behalf of the entire Panera team, we apologize and hope you’ll give us another try.
Let me assure you I will NEVER go back to this location! And as for “frustrating when you don’t get exactly what you ordered” — I never received any food or any update until I asked the person make the salad-not-salad in the back.
Very long story short – there are lots of options in this shopping center…eat anywhere but here!
