I never really wrote a review for Panera at the Glen Ellyn location before. This is my first time.

Please look at the pictures that I attached. First picture was from September 30th 2025 and the second one from 1/13/2026. Do you eat burnt food? Moreover, eating burnt food can increase the risk of cancer.

I called Panera customer service so many times. Those pictures just some of the bad experiences. So, a week later after each phone call, when I went back again my soufflé didn’t burn, so they seemed to do a better job. Well, here is the problem…the soufflé got better after the feedback. This is not a standard! I have to call and complain/feedback every time when the food doesn’t cook properly. Don’t they know how to cook? This is a big company!

I have been to this location for more than 10 years and I had the problem with burning soufflé from 2025 until now. Something is wrong with the manager, and the employees here. They should take care of this problem. I don’t know what happened with the work ethic in the kitchen or this is they standard of serving disgusting food to customers. Why do they serve burnt food? I can’t eat it and I return it all the time when it happens. It’s such a waste! If someone doesn’t have skill to cook or bake then don’t put that person in the kitchen. What so hard about it!

When I say Panera has lost me as a loyal customer I mean it. I order a sandwich this evening this is the third time my order has been incorrect but this time yall didn’t even attempt to wrap my damn sandwich and had everything at the bottom of my bag. If I lived closer I would have brought this crap back and got a full refund.

I like Panera bread where you can sit and talk or do work for hours without interruptions . It has self-ordering kiosks which is very helpful. My name is called when the order is ready and I go to the window and pick up my food. I like the layout where you have more privacy and it’s not too loud. Service is decent but it can get busy sometimes. There is plenty of parking.

Apparently, shrink-flation now includes not giving you your whole order. I ordered carryout around 3PM on a Sunday (not peak hours). There was only one elderly couple in the dining area. The rest of the place was empty. I’d expect not getting my whole order from maybe Taco Bell or Burger King, but at the price Panera is charging I expect much more. I was very disappointed to get home to find I hadn’t gotten all of my food. I checked the receipt and, yes, it was all there. I paid for it. I called and the options they gave me was to drive 20 minutes back there or they could send me a meal voucher. I opted for the meal voucher and gave my address. This one month ago and I have not received any voucher. If you go here, expect restaurant prices with the service of some rundown fast food joint.

Apple salad was ok, few apple slices. I performed my own service ie ordering, checkin, utensils, beverage, so my service was great, the store itself was very cold, temperature-wise.

the mac n cheese was DISGUSTING. it was served chunky and sticky. tastes HORRIBLE. it was so bad i just wanted to stand up start screaming. i couldn’t even finish my food. it was like i was edging by just eating the bread on the side. horrible experience.

Found a dead bug in my salad after eating half of it. They are supposedly refunding me, but I am very disappointed.

How disappointing. I used to love Panera, stopping by to get a bagel with cream cheese and coffee was a regular part of my eating out rotation. I think that’s changing now. I saw a staff member with a shirt that said something about a “new era” of Panera, more like end of an era.
Their menu has taken a nose dive. How does a place known for their baked goods cut out popular bagels (like my mom who loves sesame, they don’t make that anymore apparently) and cut back to 2 cream cheese flavors? I had my Asiago bagel with butter because they don’t have chive and onion any more, and it was really disappointing. Certainly not worth the calories. My dad usually gets the cranberry muffin, they said they didn’t have that either. The manager who was taking our order was disinterested and unhelpful too, at least pretend to care. Oh, and they cut back their hot tea to 3 kinds- I would get the mango, peach, or, earl grey, but they’re all gone now too. Actually, the whole menu has had a lot of changes, but I’m not even touching on that here (I do know they cut smoothie flavors, my friend was upset with that choice). To top it off they now have a coffee machine that grinds a cups worth of beans at a time. Cute idea, but there are 2 machines and they take a lot longer than pouring a cup from their carafes. The poor guy behind me waited several minutes for a refill because everyone ahead was trying to figure out the machine. You can get a half cup, or “leave room for cream” but no more warming up a cup, or adding a little to balance your cream to coffee ratios. I assume they are trying to get rid of the excess coffee that is thrown out, but I’d hate to see the 2 coffee stations in the morning. It would be a disaster (plus all the people would already be grumpy because you get plain or honey walnut cream cheese and limited bagels). I won’t be wasting time here, so I guess this is my last revision to the review. It’s sad, meeting my parents for Panera before work on Fridays was part of our routine. I guess we will be headed to Einstein.

We bought Panera Duets. Tuna Salad and Veggie Sandwiches.

Tomato soups and Veggie Sandwich were good. But the bread of Tuna Salad was cold and dry.

Recent visit was better. Joel was very friendly and helpful.

Barbecue chicken sandwiches were great .
Tomato soup was always enjoyable.

I appreciate the attention to my order. The part of the order for someone with an allergy was bagged separately than the rest and the two drinks that looked the same were labeled with pen at the top. The food wasn’t thrown together like most casual dining places, rather it was assembled with care. Thank you for taking the extra time to make enjoying your food easy!
