If you ask to have something that normally comes in the meal put on the side, they will charge you *full menu price* for each of those things, even if they normally come with the food. This is a new practice as we’ve never had this issue at this location before.
My girlfriend is allergic to guacamole, I am not. I asked for the gauc that comes with her meal to be put on the side (since she cannot eat it, and I can), and figured I’d ask for the other stuff that normally comes with it to be put on the side too, just to be safe of no cross-contamination.
This caused a small meal for 2 with 1 drink, and no substitutions/upcharges at all, to come to $40, because she charged me an extra $1-2 for EACH item that was already supposed to come with my food (cheese, lettuce, pico, guac, etc). She said it was because of the effort it takes to put them in the plastic containers instead of the styrofoam ones, but anyone with a decent brain knows that was just the excuse to charge the customer more money for the exact same amount of product. Just pure greed, plain and simple. There is no ethical way that makes sense, I was just taken advantage of.
At the very least you shouldn’t be charging the customer essentially DOUBLE to accommodate their allergies. This is an absolutely insane business decision and I would not be surprised at all if it was illegal or got them in serious trouble for it. I may even report them to the ADA myself.
Always homeless hanging around. But the staff has been here for years and they are very friendly.
But the sanitation of this place has gone downhill. They make enough money. They need to close and remodel ASAP
Fajitas were a Little on the saltier side.
The cheese on top of the Enchiladas were still cold and not melted as requested. Probably forgot. It’s fine I guess.
Rice was soggy when we ate them but Overall staff was quick and friendly. Thank you
Be prepared to wait for people yelling about a wrong order. Order in Spanish if you can. Wrong 11pm burrito WAY better than correct 7pm burrito.
I’d still go back tomorrow.
Edit: I just want to add that I am a VERY picky eater, especially when it comes to Mexican food. I have never really liked tortillas much at all, in fact, when ever I get to a point where there’s just tortilla and a small amount of cheese left in a burrito or a quesadilla, I REFUSE to eat it because it’s gross to me… That’s how I went about eating my steak quesadilla that I got tonight, but I decided to live on the wild side and try the plain tortilla edge (which there’s not much of anyway) and the tortilla IS SO F*ING GOOD that I could not contain my delight and felt the need to update my review!!! Oh my gosh, I would come here just to buy their tortillas, I swear! So good! And I aldo forgot to mention that for about the same price as a Chipotle quesadilla, you’re getting not a quesadilla, but a mountain of gooey, meaty, cheesy deliciousness. It is maybe twice the size of a Chipotle quesadilla, and while my burrito is thinner than a normal Chipotle burrito, it’s longer so I think they are roughly the same size volume-wise. My boyfriend and I pay $22 at Chipotle for 2 extra steak burritos, and tonight we only paid $32 for 2 burritos, 2 quesadillas, and 1 chips and dip (queso). Even if we got the exact same order at Chipotle, it’d still be less food that Poncho’s and basically the same quality and price in my opinion. The steak might be a little bit lower quality than Chipotle, but as someone who basically lives off of steak, it’s still really good. Now, let all of that sink in, and get your butt iver to Poncho’s. It’s definitely worth it.
My go to place, Panchos never disappoints. It is never crowded and some day I’ll try something other than my trusty #13.
