We had a 3 course Italian as a large corporate group in the private dining room. Food was exceptional. Service was great. Service started with complimentary bread around the table with olive oil. Servers took orders on choice of salad, first course. Every course had vegetarian options. I then had Eggplant parmesan for main course and finished off with classic Tiramisu. Some of us also had coffee/latte to finish the meal. No complaints!!

Palio is a gem. The carpaccio was absolutely amazing — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere felt both elegant and welcoming.
A spot I’d happily return to again and again. Highly recommend

I only knew about this place because it was featured on Go Boldly SF. I’m glad we went, because their special four‑course menu, Live Long and Pasta, was amazing. The food was delicious, and we had a wonderful time — we will definitely return. We enjoyed the staff’s conversation and company.

Our party of 4 came to Palio for the first time for an early dinner and drinks and we were pleasantly surprised to have found a fantastic Italian restaurant near Union Square. The bartender Louis and owner Martino were both very friendly, made us feel welcome, and were very engaging. We had the Arancini, Margherita pizza and a shrimp pasta and all were excellent. The pizza was one of the best thin crust Italian pizzas we had in the city! It is a family run business with lovely staff, excellent food and drinks, good vibes, and great happy hour menu. I would highly recommend a visit!

This restaurant is a true hidden gem located a couple blocks away from Chinatown. The owner was extremely hospitable and accommodating to my dietary restrictions. I ordered the bolognese (gluten free) and the pavlova — both were very delicious. Highly recommend this place!

I was in town for a week and made a stop here for dinner. Was looking for some sort of really good Italian dinner. I ended up picking a wonderful place. The service and food were both amazing with several really great choices. The drink menu was very creative and the bartender even offered to make drinks if you would give him your favorite ingredients. I would definitely recommend coming here if you are in the area.

I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re looking for a relaxing Saturday night. First, you’re forced to book through OpenTable and put a credit card down just to get a table for four. Because of the $25-per-person cancellation fee, we felt completely “locked in” just to avoid forfeiting $100.
We had a 7:30 PM reservation and noticed the 8:00 PM closing time. Our server was kind and assured us seating ends at 8:00, the kitchen closed at 8:300, but we could stay as late as 10:00 or 11:00 PM. We felt better and had a good meal, but then the atmosphere shifted. The bus guy started hovering like a vulture to clear glasses and stopped refilling our water while we were trying to visit with old friends.
At 9:27 the same man literally walked up and rudely told us we need to “go home” before turning away without a word. We were stunned. To be chased out of a “nice” Italian restaurant in FiDi before 9:30 PM on a Saturday is ridiculous. Good food isn’t worth being treated like a nuisance.

Palio is standard fare Italian. I’d love to make something more special out of it. I’d love to say it is bespoke. Unfortunately there is not much to it.
The atmosphere begs for Palio to be taken seriously. It exudes the ambience of a high end restaurant. Clean and classy. But that’s where the anticipation ends.
The food is straight forward Italian. Salad is good. The foccacia bread is good. The pasta with crab meat was genuine. But again, nothing special. However given the prices, one cannot condone the mediocrity. I have no doubt that the ingredients are fresh and the food prepared with fervor. But what’s the point if it will be just a step above Olive Garden?
And what put the nail in the coffin was the dessert. Grainy, bland, and “random”.
Not sure why the restaurant was relatively bustling on a Wednesday dinner. I wouldn’t return. Perhaps the business crowd.
