Previously 2022 I rated Pakwaan a 4 out of 5. My last order was from March 2026 what a difference. Do to recent changes from new ownership its now a 1 out of 5. Entrees used to come in ULINE aluminum foil rounds which were 7″, now they are in plastic 6” rounds. That’s 14% less food. Biryani was 9″ rounds now in 7″, that’s 22% less food. The rice on the side is less than half what it was prior. Food quality also not as good. Dried broken up rice on a Sunday afternoon. Less flavorful and under seasoned. Sorry but, Need to find a new spot.

Service was great the medium spice level was just right for us. (We like spicy) We were able to order online, and pay from their website.

Two large Samosa come in one order. Its enough to share for 4. The Garlic Naan is four pieces in one order. You really smell the garlic once you unwrap the package. I would eat here again.

just another restaurant…

it shifted to lake Hiawatha recently and we decided to try this…
we went there one fine evening. The owner did not seem really interested in welcoming us… he was busy with some other task. this restaurant is basically for taking out only and only 3 tables are there to dine in. its self-service, you won’t even get proper cutlery. we got our food in a to-go box and we ate there. we ordered Chicken chili and mutton biryani. Chicken chili was good, but mutton biryani was horrible. we asked for water and girl at the counter was busy looking down at her mobile. it was hot inside but they did not even turn on the AC.

Prices seem to be okay, not expensive. I guess, its good for only indo-Chinese items.

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. I have never understood the hype of Garlic Naan until this delicious meal; it glittered with the butter, was both crunchy and soft, and made me understand what other restaurants’ Garlic Naans strive to be. Besides that, I ordered Paneer Tikka Masala and it was so good it was hard to stop eating even after I was full LOL.
That being said, the place is takeout/catering-focused so keep in mind it doesn’t really resemble a typical restaurant. They serve from a counter and dish the food in plastic containers, on a tray, etc. But don’t let that distract you from the fact that this is a 5-star gourmet meal that Gordon Ramsay would be proud of. They give generous portions on the entrée as well. I can only speak to the dine-in/takeout, not the catering, but I assume if they nail one they must nail the other. Worthy competitor to other Indian restaurants in the area, including Apna Swad and Jashan by Dhaba.

I ordered the paneer makhani. It tasted okay, but barely had any paneer in it. I counted and it was only 8 pieces of paneer for $20.95. There are other Indian restaurants in Lake Hiawatha that are a much better value, and a lot more flavorful.

The paneer dish itself was $14.95, and I spent $4 on extra rice (and $2 on chutney), so I could have food for the next day. Unfortunately, all I have is sauce and rice and no paneer. I don’t think I’d bother with this place again.

We randomly selected this place after finding that our original restaurant choice was closed. That change in plans ended up being a really good thing. We arrived with wine and intended to eat there despite this primarily being a take-out place. The owner was very accommodating and friendly to us. The food (especially the tandoori mushrooms) was delicious, fresh and perfectly spiced. We will definitely be back!

Buffet has a good variety and the staff are pleasant. I mentioned that they had run out of some items and they immediately had the chef make more. It was just after lunch hours and we were the last customers in the restaurant. They didn’t make us feel rushed. Place is clean and food is pretty delicious. Way better than most places I’ve seen rated higher around here and absolutely reasonably priced.

Love this place. Great food, buffet is one of the best in the area (a lot of choices here as well). One of the few that will regularly serve goat (if that’s your thing) in the buffet which is rare to see. In addition, the options on much of the vegetarian dishes change quite often which is a huge plus to try different variations of dishes. The interior is well kept, and the service is great. Definitely our go to for our indian fix.
