I don’t venture out to San Carlos that much, but I was happy to try this Korean-Chinese restaurant! It was nice to find out that there were exclusive dishes that can ONLY be ordered at this location, so we made sure to order at least one of those items.
My favorites were the Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and the Meat Jajangmyeon (black bean sauce noodles). Both had very different flavors, but still comforting. The seafood soup had a nice kick to it, but was perfect on that cold night we went. Noodle texture here is also pretty close to perfect with just enough bounce to them.

My husband and I tried this place while we were on our vacation. The restaurant was just across our hotel so we decided to have dinner here last week. The place was big, modern and clean. Service was good as we were greeted and seated right away. We were given cold water in a jug by our waiter which was really nice while we were deciding what to order. My husband had a big bowl of noodle soup and I tried the jajangmeon which is their popular dish. My husband was happy with his noodle soup as it was tasty and filling. It was my first time to have jajangmeon and I was also satisfied with my order. It was tasty and the noodles were chewy just the way I like them. The portions were also pretty generous. Overall experience was great!

It’s funny how the Korean name of this place is called Hong Kong banchom because this is a Korean Chinese food place that’s popular in Korea.
I had cravings for tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) so decided to come here with my friends. We also ordered jjangjang noodles and jjangpom noodles. The biggest problem with the food here is that everything is too sweet. I think the food would be so much better if they just dial down the sweetness a bit (half sweet as current offerings).
The service can be spotty as there are a lot of young servers and they are not as attentive or even friendly as they can be. The place however is clean but because it’s separated into two sections sometimes if you are in the other section they don’t seem to see/acknowlege you even when you are waving your arms.
It’s a decent place is you have craving for Korean Chinese food and you live on the peninsula so you cannot go to better places in Santa Clara.

I love this place! This is one of the few places you can get Jajangmyeon for $11 . And I also appreciate how their tip starts at 15%, instead of 18% like most places in the Bay. In general the portion size is big and the dishes are relatively cheap so you can really get your bang for your buck here. Some people have noticed lower quality of taste compared to the Santa Clara location, but to me the food tastes great so I like it. This place is also bigger than the Santa Clara location and is way easier to park at, so I prefer this location over the Santa Clara one.
The food is great here. They provide complimentary radishes which I like.
We go the Jajangmyeon and it was really savory. The only thing is I wish they would add cucumbers and not peas at the topping, but it doesn’t make that much of a difference to the flavor of the dish. We got the extra meat, which was an extra $3 and I wouldn’t recommend it. I thought extra meat would mean more of the meat in the savory black sauce but they just added some cut pork over the dish, so I don’t think the extra $3 was worth it. The quality of their Jajangmyeon has varied. When we came back recently it was a bit watery, but that doesn’t take away from the flavor of the dish which still tasted good to me.
We’ve also got the Jjamppong which was great. It’s quite spicy but savory and the noodles are soft so all around great dish.
We’ve also ordered the Sweet and Sour Pork a few times and that is great. The pork is crispy and tender. The sweet sauce is really sweet but I think it adds to the pork which is plain without any sauce.
We’ve also gotten the Jajang rice a few times and it’s really great too. It comes with soup, so it feels like a full meal. You really don’t need to order anything else if you get the Jajang rice, so it is a really great bang for your buck.
The service is pretty good. They can get really busy during peak hours though and can be a little slow during those times, but overall I think the service is pretty good. They’re quite attentive. Like they gave us scissors when they saw we were struggling to eat the noodles. And when they gave us a box to take home the leftover Sweet and Sour Pork they gave us 2 boxes (so the fried pork wouldn’t get soggy sitting the sweet sauce), which was very considerate of them.
The interior is also nice. It’s very new and clean since it just opened. It has modern but warm furnishings. It is also bigger than the Santa Clara location so that’s really great especially during peak hours when there’s a lot of people.
Parking is also not a problem here (unlike the Santa Clara location). There’s a huge lot for the plaza so we didn’t have an issues finding parking.

I think they’re still learning or training staff so don’t give up on them. I’m giving them 3 stars not because it’s bad but because they need to improve and tighten up the Jajjangmyun. They should give a little more sauce but a not serious issue we had was improper draining of the noodles.
If the noodles are not fully drained, water will be left in the bottom of the bowl. When this happens, it becomes very soupy and ruins the dish. This is not acceptable. You might have to ask for the sauce on the side so you can check the noodles first to make sure there isn’t a bunch of water on the bottom.
You shouldn’t have to think about it but I’d rather check first so my meal isn’t ruined. If they can tighten up their process, this will not be necessary.
I had Jajjang rice so my meal wasn’t affected. We have gone to the other locations so we know what to expect from them.
Glad they opened, I know they will address this issue. It’s a nice place with much more room than the other spot and parking is far better.

New Paik’s noodle location finally opened in San Carlos! I went during their soft opening and the place is huge and the food was delicious.
Jjajangmyun and jjambong was everything you imagine plus more. The tangsuyuk batter here is so light and crunchy and we love to dip it in the sauce versus it being poured over so the crispiness lasts longer. The chili shrimp had a small kick but lasting impression. Definitely need to come back to try the cream shrimp too.
Some menu items weren’t available yet, so we’ll definitely be back again.

Paik’s Noodle is a fantastic spot for anyone looking to explore Korean-Chinese cuisine! The location is spacious, making it perfect for families and gatherings. The food is simply awesome—there’s so much more than just jjajangmyun and jjambbong to enjoy.
The restaurant is also very clean, and parking is super convenient with plenty of spots in the plaza. If you’re curious about Korean-Chinese dishes (think of it like Tex-Mex but for Korean and Chinese flavors), this is the perfect place to start your culinary adventure. Highly recommended!

It’s great to see Paik noodle opens closed by. It is on soft opening mode with limited dishes in the menu. They said they will have more dishes available in the coming weeks, which I think It will be a grand opening in 2 weeks.
Interior is very nice, clean, and neat. I like it. It was not thaf busy when we arrived. The server constantly stops by and asks if we are ready to order. We ordered sweet and sour pork, stir-fry jajsngmyeon, and jjamppong. Our order was ready. The food was yummy. Cannot wait to see more dishes available on the menu. Will come back again.

Paik’s has landed in San Carlos. It is a famous chain and we’ve been to their store in Santa Clara. It is your mid-range Korean comfort food and we’re so glad that this one is spacious, clean, and has plenty of potential.
Food was quite good, as expected. The Jjajangmyun however could’ve used more sauce. We could barely cover the noodles. But whtaever rubbed off, was quite tasty. The Tangsuyuk was quite amazing. Chewy and crispy with the right level of sweetness and tanginess. And oh boy, the chili prawns were the highlight.
Now given they have just opened, they still haven’t quite figured out their operations. Most items in the menu were not available yet and whatever they offered, the food was delivered extremely slow and it was evident that the shop wasn’t working as a well greased team to handle the crowd. So for that, we will give them another chance and return. And if they fix this, based on the price point, I think they would easily enter the 4 or 5 star zone.
Again, excited for a great start and finally a proper Korean-Chinese comfort food joint in the Peninsula. Will return in a few weeks for second evaluation.

The sample sized jjampong is perfect if you want something lighter – you get all the flavor and toppings of the soup, but no noodles. The tangsuyuk was only ok here, and the jajangmyeon was on the sweeter side.
