I found myself in Pollock Pines, CA. It’s a small rural town. There aren’t a lot of places to eat. Pacos Taqueria is a small eatery minority owned which is not common in these parts. I’ve eaten here twice in the last 4 months. They serve up tasty, traditional Mexican food. The staff are welcoming. Not afraid to crack a smile.

The food is traditional, classic, simple Mexican food. I like the refried beans. They are smooth and flavorful without causing gas. Yup I said it. Some places I avoid the beans because of the potential after effects. The chicken enchiladas and ground beef crispy tacos are my faves. The shredded chicken was moist and flavorful, the enchilada sauce was tasty. I could drink that stuff. Speaking about drinking; they have bottled Mexican Coca Colas and Jarritos along with fountain sodas. The complimentary tortilla chips are brought out to you. The salsa bar is self serve. The red salsa is fantastic. Yum. The green salsa was darn tasty too.

The interior is simple a bit dated but clean. It has a neat luchador theme. Luchador as in face masked Mexican pro wrestlers. They have some luchador masks displayed on the wall. Not a lot, but enough to make it interesting.

Another nod to the customer service was that we ordered dine in about 22 minute before closing. They served us and didn’t rush us out. Since the food came out hot n fast, we ate and left two minutes before closing. Awesome service.

What a great little place! Humble, neat, and clean! The food was great. We had a carnitas quesadilla and a carnitas taco plate. Both were exceptional. The pork was tender, not too lean and not too fat. Rice and beans were spot on perfect. Is it Michelin? No. But it’s straight up honest and unpretentious Mexican fare served with a smile in a place the staff clearly takes pride in. We will be back!

I’ve eaten at many taquerias in the city and this place is good, if not better than most. Portions are large. Lots of seating, very clean, and friendly service.

The meat was dry and the flavor of the fried tortillas wasn’t great in the flautas but we have had great experiences here with the quesabirria. The green salsa is also extra delish.

The food was delicious. We stopped here for a quick bite on our way back from a trip to Tahoe, and it didn’t disappoint.

Service was very slow. When we finally got our food, neither order was correct. The food was well below average for a Mexican restaurant. I highly recommend you choose another restaurant.

What was supposed to be a 15-minute wait turned into a 45-minute wait. The service was terrible. At least the food could have been decent, but it was absolutely tasteless. Some of the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had in El Dorado.
*update- everyone who consumed the food purchased from this location spent the rest of the night running to the bathroom.

I had the chicken tinga grande burrito, and my sister had the taco salad with carne asada. Both were delicious! I wish the guacamotilo was spicier, but it was still really good! I would say it’s a tiny bit overpriced for substitutions, but the rich taste of the food overall and the tenderness of the meat makes it worth it (my chicken tinga was practically falling apart because it was so tender!) Would definitely recommend 🙂 Btw prices for most single entrees are about $15-20 🙂
