Our group of seven was looking for a place for a quick place to stop for lunch on our way out of town and found this little neighborhood soul food gem. The individual meals consist of your choice of a protein (BBQ chicken, beef, pork, or fish) plus two sides and a hot water cornbread biscuit. It was my first time trying rib tips, which were delicious. The portions were generous, the prices were very reasonable, and everyone working there was so warm and friendly. This is definitely more of a comfort food place and not the healthiest nutrition-wise, but we still enjoyed it as a fun way to experience the local culture near downtown Indianapolis.

This place was fun. We went from Guy’s recommendation. We were there around 1130a but the BBQ wasn’t ready yet. We got two dinners. Mac was salty. BBQ was done before we left so we got a dinner. The pento beans were fire though. I’m glad we tried it.

I had been craving some barbecue rib tips for several weeks, and many of the nearby places do not serve tips. So, I drove over to try theirs for the first time. It was worth the drive. The rib tips were delicious without the sauce overpowering the flavor. The pulled pork was delicious as well, and the pork chops were good. The side dishes, cabbage, and mac & cheese were good go-withs.

My son and I stumbled onto this gem several weeks ago and have been back at LEAST once a week ever since. The food is outstanding…best for several miles around, the staff is friendly and attentive, great atmosphere that immerses you in Indianapolis history and it offers a great value. If you have a chance, GO! My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

I forgot to make a review but this accident happened a few months ago… but I left my IPhone at the counter when I was putting condiments on my food. I sat in my car by the building and ate my food. I drove off just a little bit and realized I left my phone. I didn’t go anywhere else or get out the car so I knew where I left it at. I went back and the workers stated they didn’t see my phone and it was only one customer in there sitting down and 2 people behind me when I was ordering my food. I had my son look at my location and my phone was still at the building. When they realize I had a tracker on my phone they threw my phone in the snow across the street and broke it! Remind you that I had left and was going to get my Apple Watch bc my son was taking forever bc he was in school. I didn’t even make it back home to get my Apple Watch and my son told me my phone was MOVING. And I found it SHATTERED AND IN THE SNOW right across from the restaurant. I CALLED THE OWNER AND TOLD HER THE SITUATION. SHE SENT ME VIDEOS OF THE CAMERA AND MY PHONE WAS DEF ON THE CAMERA SITTING ON THE COUNTER. I didn’t get a video of somebody picking it up tho! REMIND YOU I AM A 1099 nurse contractor so my phone is my job! I had to struggle for 1 week without my phone until my insurance approved my request for a replacement. Even tho she offered to help with the payment it was about the principal. I WOULD NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN! THE WORKERS ARE THEIFS AND POOR! REMIND U IT WAS AN IPHONE 11 LOL. SOON AS I GET THE VIDEOS OUT MY OTHER PHONE I WILL POST THEM! And the FOOD IS A 7/10.. NOT TOO BAD! BUT WHO WANTS TO SPEND THEIR MONEY WHEN THEIR WORKERS STEALING. SMH BAD BUSINESS!

I have fried fish with shrimp pasta 2x, meat loaf brown gravy, cabbage and mashed potatoes with brown gravy, stuffed chicken breast 2x green beans, Salmon Zucchini and onions with Shrimp pasta and Greens with no meat! My meal was amazing! You can actually get 4 meals for $36 depending on what you get! I spent $62 because the Salmon was $15 + them desserts but as you see I like food! Meal prep for the week plus, Sunday Dinner! A hidden Gem for Sure!

The lady serving wasn’t pleasant. When I got the food home I found a rubber band in the greens. The tips were tough and the mac and cheese was bland. Also, I ordered 2 pieces of chicken which was extremely greasy. Overall, very disappointing and will not return.

As I came in, they were still pulling out some of the fresh made items. The staff was super friendly and it seemed like there were a few tables open for people to eat inside. The place looked like it could host many different events inside considering how big it was inside.
I ordered the rib ends, Mac and cheese, cabbage, as yams. The ribs were the highlight for me. Perfectly cooked with the sauce as good company for the meat. The Mac and cheese was a bit more soupy that I expected, but still very tasty and rich. The yams were also tasty with a touch of savory spice in the mix. The cabbage, unfortunately was a bit of a disappointment. It just tasted like hot had been boiled without any seasoning.
Overall a good experience. I would come again for the ribs, but not my favorite soul food place in Indy.

Pa and ma’s backyards barbecue is very good the lady serving the food is very greeting the kid at the desk tell me alot of things hes very nice and pleasing the guy that helps the lady he is funny i love me some mac and cheese from anywhere but when i tell you theyr’e mac and cheese is very good i first started going to pa and ma when i got out of school ine day my mom took me up there i LOVED it the service was very nice and do suggest to people i will say it everyday if i have to i LOVE PA and ma exspecially the kid in the front hes very kind and nice god bless. They’re shop and i hope they go big I LOVE PA AND MA

I really enjoyed going to this event! The customer service was beyond exceptional, truly enjoyed how nice they were. The location was easy to get to however the parking was not ideal. The food was good and being served was fast. I do wish that the taste of the food was more consistent as some bites had more seasoning or flavor that another bite.
