Decent service, brilliant portion size, even better price. The food however is very poor. Fish cover in a horrible cake like batter. Not sure hoki is the answer or this was poorly executed. Chips also given volume as poor white potatoes cheap potatoes tinged with sweetness not ideal for frying.

We were promised when Ozzie retired that things would stay the same, sadly that doesn’t seem to be the case on our last visit the chips were wrapped and put on top of the counter before the fish even went into the fryer….. ended up lukewarm warm and soggy at best.
Tonight the fish ordered was our normal medium fish but sadly the fish wouldn’t have been half the size of our last visit, the first time I have ever gone for bread and butter to go with it……..disappointed seems like the end of great service and exceptional standards

Wow, first time ever I ordered a large cod and felt like I was given a large cod.
All good on the taste front, 20 mins before closing and concerned. However not to worry as fish and chips were amazing.
I travel a lot with work and these were the best value fish I have ever had. To be fair not sure how they make money.
Well done, I will be back.

I was a bit disappointed with this chippy. The queue was so long (see the photo) that I had to wait over half an hour to order, then I get to the counter to see a sign saying cash only ,which would be fine if we were still in the 20th century. Fortunately the chap behind me in the queue saved my place while I raced to get cash from a nearby ATM. Why would a business not take cards in 2025? The cod and chips were ok, although pla bit greasy and I couldn’t taste any of the requested salt & vinegar.

What a burger!! Just had the double cheese burger! Actually taste like a burger too. Not the cheap thin patties, proper burger!
Asked the Mrs to try it and agreed then kept coming back for more – will get her one next time!

Greeted by welcoming staff and the food was cooked fresh so we had to wait but didn’t mind. Orded medium fish and chips x2 and the fish was cooked well and very meaty. However we felt the portion size was far too large for us and we felt overfaced due to it. Overall the food was good but parking and portion size was an issue.

We ordered 2 medium COD fish and small fries , and it was enough for 4 pax. The medium COD fish portion like large size and the small size fries was big portion too. The COD fish is delicious and fresh. Only the fries are a bit soggy due to we take away about 20 min to reached the destination for ate. Good experience, and I will come back again.

If anyone was worried about Ozzie retiring, don’t be! This is still the ultimate chip shop and the best on the island by a mile. The staff are lovely, prices are good, the food is perfectly cooked, and the portion sizes are still ridiculous. I am a big boy, and I couldn’t finish a fish and small chips. It’s a dinner winner!

Fast service, perfect chips! Just had haddock and chips and jumbo battered sausage and chips x3. Waited about 5 mins maybe then walked to the park across the road to the park. The small chips is massive, I’ve got a big appetite but what I couldn’t eat was like a large chips anywhere else. The haddock was lovely though the batter was missing of a small area, nice crispy crunch, lovely. Gravy was a little thin for me but fine for everyone else.
Well worth a try, highly recommend, we will be back.
