We didn’t eat here but definitely will next visit as the menu looks great and has lots of options, not just seafood. Awesome View of the Harbour and Service was Top Notch! We just went in for a beverage.

Salar’s Honest Reviews
Less than a year ago, I shared my thoughts about Oystercatcher Seafood Bar & Grill, and I’m thrilled to say, that my recent visit completely surpassed my expectations.

Previously, I praised the breathtaking location and views of Salt Spring Island but pointed out some areas for improvement in the food quality. However, during this visit in December, I was genuinely impressed by the remarkable changes. The food, services, and freshness were absolutely perfect, embodying a new level of excellence.

Greg, our server, deserves a special mention. He exemplified what exceptional service truly means—attentive, knowledgeable, and incredibly friendly. His attention to detail and genuine passion for ensuring guests have an outstanding experience truly enhanced our visit.

The food was nothing short of exquisite. My fish and chips were not only delicious but also highlighted the freshness that I had previously felt was lacking. It’s evident that the restaurant has made significant strides in elevating its offerings, ensuring every dish meets the highest standards of quality.

Moreover, the ambiance and stunning views remain unparalleled. It’s the perfect setting to savor delectable seafood while soaking in the beauty of Salt Spring Island.

In conclusion, my recent visit to Oystercatcher Seafood Bar & Grill was an absolute delight. The improvements in food quality, the exceptional service provided by Greg, and the overall experience make it an establishment I wholeheartedly recommend. This visit reaffirmed that Oystercatcher is now a top-notch culinary destination that beautifully combines fantastic food with breathtaking views.

Lunch for 4 for $175. Gave this place a shot based on the location. The view from upstairs was nice; however the food was disappointing and the prices were somewhat ridiculous. Fish tacos portion was very small for $21. Only two tacos and came with zero sides. The flavour was not great and the slaw inside was huge chunks of sweet cabbage. $4.50 for a glass of carbonated water (club soda). No refill. The crab dip was extremely sad. I’ve never seen a dip served in such a small ramekin – just was not what you’d expect and it was very runny and like nothing I’ve ever had (not in a good way).
The fish and chips seemed to be enjoyed for the most part. What was the better fish. Lamb burger was also decent.
The wine we had was $20 for the glass, and the local winery sells the entire bottle for $24. Seems quite steep to me and an unnecessary profit margin for a local boutique wine. Our server to start was great, until she handed us off to another who didn’t seem to care much about us and definitely didn’t seem to enjoy his job. It was like you felt like it was inconveniencing him to ask for a water refill. Just wasn’t a happy person – perhaps he had a personal issue or was just an off day. Nonetheless it wasn’t positive for us. I wouldn’t be as picky about the service if the prices weren’t so high.
At these rates I expect a more high end dining experience and overall would feel like I should leave happy and satisfied – that was not the case.

My partner and I went for dinner and had a lovely time. The ambience was very pleasant and the patio was nicely set up with fires. There are many local small birds which are adorable and quite friendly which really adds to the outdoor appeal. The food was great (especially the calamari) but the shining star of the evening was our server, Cam. He was excellent. He was kind, funny, knowledgeable and we were very happy with his service. I would return to this venue solely to have him be my server again. All in all, I would happily recommend this venue.

This is a beautiful restaurant, and the setting is fantastic! Our server was prompt, polite, and friendly, and the food was delicious! I had the Pasta Milano and it’s some of the best pasta I’ve had at a restaurant. I will definitely go back next time I’m on the island.

The wonderful Sydne took care of us ( angel, you are an asset for anywhere you work!).
The food was fresh and delicious. The chowder (fabulous) and we had the tiny oysters that just sang ocean fresh.
Wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Salt Spring and the oystercatcher.

Hands down the best deep-fried oysters I’ve had — super crispy on the outside, soft and juicy inside, and so fresh. The clam chowder is creamy and flavorful, and the lamb chops are from local Salt Spring lamb — delicious!
