Really lovely family style dinner! The cottage cheese and corn were favorites. Excellent pies. We were really disappointed by the lack of sauerkraut, even though we’d requested it. We will be back and, hopefully, get our sauerkraut next time.

Food: We had the Sunday brunch, and the servers kept the plates and choices filled to the brim. For the price, the food was definitely above par.
Service: Staff was professional, fast service, always had drinks filled, plated filled, ensured we were happy and comfortable.
Atmosphere: a beautiful old world style dine in type restaurant, but the place can get pretty noisy. Overall, comfortable.
Overall, I would highly recommend trying this place out, my family and I had a great time eating here and we all left happy and full.

Ox Yoke Inn’s Bierstube Bar has been transformed into “Jinglestube” for the holiday season! It is such a unique and festive atmosphere in the basement area. Our friends and I enjoyed delicious wine, beer, and cocktails along with wonderful service. It’s a must-stop location if you’re shopping in Amana this Christmas or visiting Tannenbaum Forest at the Festhalle Barn!

Great experience! Had the catfish and all the sides! Surprisingly the beets are fantastic!

Friendly service for our large group at the Ox Yoke Inn.
Traditional Germanic food. Delicious, but definitely not easy for those wanting lower calorie meals. Especially when they tempt you with Death by Chocolate for dessert!
Our drinks were kept filled constantly. Menu questions were answered clearly. Dishes can be served plates, or family style. But for family style your entire table must order family style.
I tried the chicken schnitzel sandwich. Schnitzel means that it’s dredged in cracker meal and fried. So a light fried batter.

An original family style experience with a sharing of hearty flavorful German foods. The roast Beef was fork tender and accompanied by a rich beef gravy. The schnitzel and spaetzel were very good.
Of the sides, the coleslaw was great, but the mashed potatoes were the absolute benchmark for good side dishes everywhere.
The Sunday brunch followed by a long walk around Amana and it’s shops is why we make this a day trip twice a year.

Drank here once, beer was good.
The Sunday October fest schedule on the Amana Colonies website said %50 off drinks “Happiest Hour” was 2-4.
Front door said %50 off drinks “Happiest Hour” was 2-4.
Show up a 4 and told by the manager that they close at 3 and “Happiest Hour” is 1-3 and it’s only stated on their Facebook.

The food and atmosphere are always excellent however the service not so much. We happily waited our turn to be seated but it took 15 minutes before they took our order and another 25 to get our food. I really do love this place but they need to work on getting to people qucker.

I don’t know what happened to The Ox Yoke Inn’s food but after what I experienced today, I will not ever return. Soda-flat. Bread- the absolute cheapest , driest “dinner rolls”. Mixed vegetables- cold, flash frozen, chartreuse in color, rubbery Greenbeans that were 100% inedible. Spatzel- not fresh/reheated, old and dry. Baked Steak- tasteless, tough and stringy. The gravy on the steak was more gelatinous than anything and lacked flavor. Very disappointed. It was bad enough that the food was garbage, Add to that, the absolutely outrageous prices for food of that caliber. Never to return.

An interesting place to have lunch. Servers/staff are nice and helpful. Nice setting / attractive dining room. We tried family style which was fine, although predictably it was more food than we needed, next time think we’d just go with the less costly plated option. Super disappointed that draft beer is only available downstairs in the stube. Cottage cheese was lovely! I ordered German sausages with hot German potato salad which was not a good choice, we’ve had this in Germany, Eastern Europe, and all over the USA and hate to say, this was my least favorite preparation, the sausages were all shriveled up (overcooked) and while I love hot German potato salad (which my Mom often made), the version here was not good, so dry and little zing or taste. Mashed potatoes were pretty okay. My wife loves catfish, but the catfish here disappointed both of us, so average, not plump tasty fish and a battered prep vs. southern cornmeal style, we’ve had better catfish almost everywhere in the southern USA, this must be Iowa style or something. We imagine other things on the menu would have been a better choice? Anyways, we don’t regret our visit, a nice place, we just wish the food prep was better and more competitive with what we’ve had outside this area. We would try someplace else next time.
