The Overlook at Hawks Nest is an absolute gem! The food here is outstanding, everything looks and tastes freshly made. The spinach and artichoke dip was creamy, rich, and perfectly paired with crisp tortilla chips. And the spaghetti and meatballs? Absolutely delicious! The sauce had great flavor, and the garlic bread was toasted to perfection.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere really makes the experience special. The restaurant has a cozy, scenic charm that perfectly matches the beauty of the Hawks Nest area. It’s a great place to relax, enjoy a meal, and take in the views after exploring nearby trails or overlooks.
If you’re in the area, definitely stop by The Overlook, it’s one of those places that combines great food, great service, and great scenery all in one.

To access the restaurant you go in from the main door of the lodge. Our server was very helpful, she recommended the mac and cheese bites which were way spicier than I thought. I had the chili while my partner had the French onion soup both were delicious. The views out the window of the restaurant are amazing. There is not a bathroom on the floor where the restaurant is you have to take the elevator up or down to use one so I recommend using the restroom before you go to the restaurant

Beautiful views out the windows of the restaurant. The service was friendly. The food was not so great and the prices were too high for the food you received. It could be so much better.

Super cool restaurant with an amazing view of the new river gorge river. As we sat and ate lunch we got to watch people paddle board and take a speed boat tour. The food was amazing! Will definitely be back!

The food was good. The only drawback was the ribeyes we ordered were saturated in salt, so if you’re salt conscious, ask for light seasoning. The view was awesome! So pretty.

Went on 2-14-26. The view was nice, that’s really about the only good thing I can say.
The $26 ribeye was super thin had lots of gristle and it was raw. The seasoning was absolutely atrocious. Baked Mac was congealed and unseasoned.
Bacon wrapped pork was tough and unseasoned. The sour cream on our baked potatos was rotten. $65 for inedible food, I didn’t complain or send anything back we paid and left.
Service staff didn’t pay us any attention as they were all to busy with a large 10 person party, that apparently took every single staff member there to serve. Leaving the smaller tables to suffer. I’ll never go back.

The view, there are not enough words to explain the beauty of its ever changing wonders.

We visited on a Sunday night and had no trouble getting a table. Our waitress was extremely friendly and guided us through different menu options and her recommendations. The food was also delicious along with an amazing view! The view alone is worth the visit, but our party thoroughly enjoyed the hush puppies and all of our meals. We highly recommend everyone stop by this hidden gem and we hope to revisit!
