As a traveler and making Independence my home for 4 months, all I wanted was a “GOOD” turkey sandwich. I was directed by Salem locals to find Overbird Bakery. I’ve became addicted!! Daily fresh naked breads, pastries, and the BEST turkey sandwich I ever had ever. Their turkey sandwiches become my weekly fix.
Staff was amazing and you can tell they love their work.
The location is perfect on the main street with fun shops surrounded them. I’m so happy to have found this place on my travels. The locals were not wrong!

I stopped in for my first time and was definitely pleased with the friendly staff and delicious pastries and other food items! I had the potato crusted smoked salmon and chevre-goat cheese quiche with a peaches and cream danish. Absolutely scrumptious! I will be returning!

People drive for many miles to come here and get the baked goods. They are really excellent in that regard. I drive 25 miles to come here every Saturday morning for coffee with a friend; we love this place. We love the staff. We love the family atmosphere. And the excellent quiche, and occasionally a delicious danish, add to our experience. ❤️

My husband and I come here for pastries just about every week. It’s a fantastic bakery. We decided to order a cake for our 10th wedding anniversary. It was amazing! Wonderful price too. We are definitely going buy our daughter a cake here for her birthday.

We did come back for our daughter’s birthday! We got two cakes: one smash cake for my daughter, and a larger cake to celebrate her, her dad, and her grandpa’s birthdays last week. They were DELICIOUS. We love celebrating with Oven Bird.

Stumbled across this bakery one day as I drive by often. Small and quant with a very family atmosphere. The selection of baked goods changes daily it seems with the usual quiche, rolls, danish and coffee cakes. My favorite so far are the marionberry danish along with the bacon quiche. I did branch out to the pear coffee cake and it was really good also. There are lunch options, loaves of bread and day old options but I haven’t tried or had the time to sit down for lunch. Keep making great stuff it’s all been wonderful so far.

Ovenbird has catered a couple of my husband’s work events, and we had them cater our high school reunion and I’ve loved EVERYTHING! From pastas and soups to breads and pies, it’s seriously all so amazing and you honestly can’t beat their pricing! On top of that, Katie (the owner) is the kindest most down-to-earth person with a very professional staff.. I’ll continue to support ovenbird whenever I get the chance!!

Nice local bakery. However, the pastries make me feel sick because there is soo much butter its almost dripping. Also the scones are dry.

I ordered GF cupcakes for a wedding shower. They are the best GF cupcakes ever! and looked amazing ! The staff were extremely help and kind and made ordering over the phone was super easy.

What is better than the smell of freshly baked bread? Well, eating delicious pastries while smelling freshly baked bread. This is a cozy little place wih great breakfast and pastry items. Quiche was divine, as well as the flaky crusted pastries. Hot, fresh bread for sale daily. You will be sure to find something you love here.

Ovenbird has always been fantastic, between delicious treats and incredibly affordable and taste soups and sandwiches. Recently I asked about chocolate cookies, so I could give my dog a taste before he passed on and they made the next day’s batch double chocolate and even set some aside to make sure I’d get some. I’m grateful for the kindness. They’re an incredible asset to the community in every way.
