If you’re anywhere near Lakeland and hungry, do yourself a favor and head to Ovation Bistro & Bar. I came in expecting a good meal and left wondering if I should write a thank-you letter to the chef for the emotional experience my taste buds just went through.
First up, the filet mignon. Perfectly cooked, tender, and so flavorful it practically melted the moment it touched the fork. Every bite felt like a little celebration. Then came the Parmesan broccoli, which somehow managed to make eating vegetables feel like a reward instead of a responsibility. If all broccoli tasted like this, kids everywhere would stop hiding it under their napkins.
The steak wedge salad was also incredible—crisp, fresh, and packed with flavor. It’s one of those salads that makes you forget you’re technically eating something healthy because it’s just that good.
And the Parmesan chicken? Absolutely fantastic. Crispy, cheesy, perfectly cooked, and covered in rich, comforting flavor. It was the kind of dish that makes the table go quiet for a few seconds because everyone is too busy enjoying their food.
Major kudos to Chef Landen, because whatever magic is happening in that kitchen had our taste buds doing a full-on dance party. Every dish was spot on.
And let’s not forget the bar. Robbie, the bartender, made some of the best mojitos I’ve had in a long time—refreshing, perfectly balanced, and dangerously easy to drink. Honestly, if mojitos were an Olympic sport, Robbie would be bringing home the gold.
Great food, amazing drinks, and a fun atmosphere. Safe to say we left happy, full, and already talking about what we’re ordering next time. If you’re in Lakeland and looking for a place that delivers both great flavor and a great time, Ovation Bistro & Bar is the place to go. Your taste buds will thank you later. ️

My waitress was GREAT. I believe it was Jessica or Jennifer. She worked on a saturday afternoon. She was great and very pretty and so friendly. We’d go back just because of her. I got the wings, but I prefer them wet. Onion rings are amazing and the steak was very tender with a spicy kick.

Our party of four visited the restaurant on Wednesday for dinner. We were seated quickly by a gentleman. The waitress stopped by shortly after. There were a few people at the bar and 5-6 other tables. We got our menus and she said she would be back. We noticed she was also tending bar. Then we began to notice, she seemed to be waiting on all the other tables! The gentleman that seated appeared from the kitchen delivering food. We ordered an appetizer and the waitress explained it was wine Wednesday. If you order 2 entrees, a bottle of wine is half price! We took advantage and placed our orders. We realized that our waitress and the gentleman were the only people taking care of the whole restaurant other than possibly the kitchen. They were pleasant, friendly, never once complained and our dinner was excellent. Yes, things ran a bit slower than normal but it was well worth it. We just can’t say enough about how well they handled what was a difficult situation. We’ll be back!

First time here with the family and we loved the buffalo dip. I would highly recommend that appetizer. The main courses were good too..the only knock on the food were the mashed potatoes were cold.

Tiffany is an amazing waitress. She is pleasant, observant and anticipatory. Not being an IPA fan, she brought a couple Samples to try. Awesome! Automatically assumed I would need extra dressing for my salad and included it with the dish and a hundred other small details that set apart a good experience from a great one. I ordered brisket and it was awful. It looked like something left over from a few days ago, they didn’t have potatoes ready to serve. I sent my meat back and decided not to get anything else. Manager never came to our table, our waiter felt real bad. Waiter was very sweet and apologetic.

I was so excited to eat here! Unfortunately the buffalo chicken sandwich was almost all breading, very little chicken. Garlic mashed potatoes were terrifically garlicky but cold, the huge gob of butter underneath wasn’t melted at all just a big chunk of cold butter and the ribs were so dried out I could only cut off one rib to try and the knife couldn’t even cut through the rest. It was a shame especially since all the flavors were so tasty. My husband had the pineapple chicken and he said his was delicious and hot. The service was very good, waitress was nice and attentive.

Our first time at Ovation did not let us down. We decided to go with 4 appetizers: Loaded baked potato skins w/brisket was a solid 5 as we’re the crab cakes. The Shrimp were a pleasant surprise as they are still serving Jumbo Shrimp when other establishments are cutting back to small or medium Shrimp, I’m going with a 4 on the Shrimp, the breading was pretty heavy for my personal taste. The smoked wings were unfortunately over smoked which led to them having a bitter taste, i do smoke lots of wings at home and it’s a delicate dance as to how much time to leave wings in a smoker and which wood to use (I always use cherry wood) but wings take on smoke very quickly and you gotta find the balance as I have definitely over smoked some at home myself, I’m going with a 3 on the wings. I will be trying the fried option on the next visit for sure. Pricing is all relative, there were no small portions so I thought it was worth the money!!! I will be visiting Ovation again!!

If Ovation Bistro & Bar was aiming for a performance, they certainly delivered—a comedy of errors from start to finish. My family and I decided to give this place a try, and let’s just say, we regret that decision.
We started with the crab cakes, which tasted like they’d been defrosted in a microwave and left to marinate in disappointment. They had a sour aftertaste, as if they’d spent more time sitting out than actually being cooked. We sent them back, which honestly felt like an act of mercy. For the main course, the pork shank arrived drowning in a sad, unseasoned pool of what I assume was meant to be gravy. The mashed potatoes were colder than my enthusiasm for this meal. Meanwhile, the wedge salad with steak featured meat so bland, I had to double-check that I hadn’t accidentally ordered a plate of seasoned cardboard.
Service? Let’s just say they were present. And ambiance? It would’ve taken a lot more than dim lighting to make this meal enjoyable. If you’re looking for a dining experience that makes you question your life choices, Ovation Bistro & Bar is the place for you. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and take your appetite elsewhere.

We had originally anticipated eating at another Lakeland steak house, but when we arrived, it was an hour and 15 minute wait. So we decided to travel on to Ovation and boy I’m glad we did. The steak was excellent and the service was amazing. Thank you, Tiffany!
