We absolutely loved our experience at this eatery in the Lusk town, WY. We halted here on our way to Rapid city. The food was great in terms of quality quantity and taste. Staffs were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone. No issues with parking, you can tank up at the adjoining gas station.

If we could have given this eatery extra stars for service we would have. Matt was AWESOME. We visited on a very busy Saturday on a long weekend. There were two wait staff working and both were incredibly friendly, efficient and hard working. It would have been easy for them to be grouchy with it being 1 hour before closing and non stop traffic but instead they worked it like pro’s.

The food was good. Fries were generous. The next morning we came back for breakfast and had Matt again as our server and let’s just say he is consistent with his excellent service.

If you are passing through the small town of Lusk, make sure to stop in here just to appreciate the good service.

From now on, every time I drive down this road, I’ll make sure to stop here. Delicious premium bacon, sunny side up eggs, hash browns, toast, and coffee for just $10.01! Amazing! Thank you!

Truck drivers, make sure to stop here! Support a local business. It’s better to leave a good tip here than to have breakfast at Denny’s with cheap bacon for $18–23.

Great local hangout. Charming, spacious with a real sense of home. We arrived at 8.30a on a Monday morning and tables were buzzing with locals at breakfast. Ordered the chicken friend steak and eggs and Jalapeño cheddar biscuits. Food was hot and tasty. Very happy we stopped by.

After 17 hours of driving, our little ones deserved a break. Alas, Lusk seemed void of places for us and our kids to get our wiggles out – especially on a cold, November Sunday.
Desperate to not have to make it to the next town before stopping, we found the Outpost Cafe and rolled the dice. And we were so happy that we did!
First of all, their menu has a fun variety and is inexpensive! I gave up on paying less than $10 per person in 2022, but Outpost Cafe is standing strong.
Second, the service was pleasant and fast. Could have just been our server, but I noticed that most employees seemed to be in a pretty good mood. That’s always indicative of a nice workplace, especially mid-morning on a Sunday in the middle of Wyoming.
Third, don’t expect high quality cuisine. Although the food is yummy, my pretentious foodie friend would probably leave a 2 star review here because the toast wasn’t sauteed in a truffle sauce or something ridiculous. But if you’re a down-to-Earth American who appreciates the effort as much as the food, I think you’ll have a good time here.
The kids’ menu is also pretty fun and serves up some big portions!
Further, I spotted what I assumed to be a number of locals dining here and they were all lovely. Our kids had plenty of attention and smiles from the patrons and employees alike.
And finally, although it was freezing cold I still took our son outside to run around before crushing his soul by putting him back in his carseat, and he had a blast walking through the old, rusted car bodies out in the dirt. Maybe not the safest place to let a kid run free, but a fun one to be sure.

Stopped here on our way to South Dakota!
Food was delicious, server Matt was very attentive and kind!!!! Loved the Truckers deluxe sandwich with Turkey! Fries were delicious in their homemade ranch.
Husband had the salad bar, said it was really good as well!

Don’t let the outside fool you. Nice little hidden gem, community diner. Had a late breakfast and all of it was great. Homemade and large portions, ready for a nap. Hashbrowns were near perfection. If you’re heading through Lusk don’t pass them by, it won’t disappoint.

Wow! This place is a gem. Driving long distances between small towns on a family trip, you are sometimes thankful just to find anything remotely edible.
The food at the Outpost Cafe was amazing. My meal came with a house salad. Every part of the salad was fresh and flavorful. I went with the chicken fried steak as my meal. The flavor and seasoning were perfect. Not a single bite was chewy. I went with the homemade mashed potatoes smothered in white gravy. Every member of my family got different meals and were just as impressed as I was.
Lastly, our server Karen was helpful and attentive. If passing through this area, do not pass them by. You will be thankful you stopped.

Great little place with some good home cooked meals. If you’re driving from Sturgis it’s the first place you’ll find in about 80 miles, and it’s definitely worth a stop. Friendly staff, fast and accurate service. Really flavorful food with good portions.

The place hits you like an oasis! The outside looks a little rough truck stop ish, but do not let that deter you this is a great family diner to check out with kid, wife, and a group. The food options are plenty, including a really nice salad bar. I would suggest stopping, slowing down, and enjoying some time in Lusk.
