Katie took great care of me in the bar. In order the Aussie special with an 8 oz sirloin medium rare. Steak was cooked perfectly. Probably not my favorite chain restaurant steak but it was good nonetheless. Finished with a chocolate volcano or something like that and it was a gooey tasty mess 🙂

Upon arrival around 3 pm on Saturday Nov 15, the place was rather quiet – a sprinkling of customers. We like this time at restaurants – before they get too busy. I ordered a ginger ale with no ice (my usual) and hubby ordered a coca-cola (his usual). Both tasted as expected. For the appetizer, we got the Ultimate Trio with boomerang-shaped mozzarella sticks, bloomin’ onion petals, and loaded fries – MMMMMM, GREAT!!! That was a most-scrumptious, delicious appetizer! And of course, the dark-brown bread with butter that they serve – always delicious!! Next were our entrees…as part of mine, I ordered a wedge salad. This was my first time getting a wedge salad and it was absolutely delectable!!! I LOVE blue cheese dressing, and it’s also drizzled with a balsamic glaze dressing. The grape tomatoes, bacon bits, etc., also added to this flavorful wedge salad!!! The only thing I can think of that would make it better is to add more bacon bits and/or offer chunk/shredded chicken or crumbled beef or shredded steak to this wedge salad!!! The salad is served with a steak knife in the middle – needed for cutting the lettuce, of course. On to my main dish – Toowoomba Salmon!! I can’t express enough how audaciously delicious this salmon, shrimp, and creamy sauce was! Keep in mind that I try salmon at a large variety of restaurants. So out of like 20 places, this salmon is tied for #1 with Glory Days!! Soooo juicy, NOT overcooked, and seasoned well (not overcooked or over seasoned)!!! I would order this meal again and again!! Note that I forgot to take a picture of this when it came to the table, so the only pictures are from the takeaway container – shrimp on top and salmon on bottom. The 3rd item that was part of my meal was steakhouse mac and cheese. Being honest according to our tastebuds, this didn’t taste as creamy, cheesy, and delicious as we remember from around 2004 (we used to live near an Outback and ordered takeout like once a month). We don’t know whether the recipe is different or whether there’s just a difference between the Outback in Lorton, VA, versus Charlottesville, VA – all we know is what we got this time was definitely different from what we used to get in Lorton. To get back on the positive track, my husband ordered 2 grilled lobster tails and he said they were really, really good!! In the past, he got steamed lobster tails, but he said these grilled ones were WAAAAAAY BETTER!! His sides were the mac and cheese plus mashed potatoes. Above is his opinion on the mac and cheese, and he said the mashed potatoes were good – nothing spectacular, but was like a 3.5 out of 5. Overall, of course, we’d go back to eat again! Just wouldn’t order the mac and cheese. Everything else – would order again!!!

I usually love Outback and know what to expect from the brand, but this visit was a real letdown. The steak came out undercooked to the point of being inedible, and unfortunately it ended up making my friend sick later that evening. On top of that, the food in general was bland — not even salted properly, which is surprising for a steakhouse where seasoning should be second nature.
I’m not the type to complain over small things, but when you go to a chain like Outback, you expect consistency and quality control. This experience felt sloppy and careless. Outback of Charlottesville, you need to be better — people come here for a dependable meal, not to gamble on whether their food is safe or properly cooked.
The one saving grace was the service. Our server was attentive, friendly, and got everything to the table quickly. It’s clear the front-of-house team is doing their best, but the kitchen really dropped the ball.
Outback can be great — I’ve had many good meals at other locations — but this one missed the mark badly. Hopefully management takes feedback like this seriously and gets things back on track.

Stopped here after getting my post op for my shoulder at UVA. By the way what a hospital. Would definitely recommend . Anyway we had received a gift certificate for Christmas to go to Outback for dinner. So we stopped here after appointments and what a meal. Great service, very friendly and our salmon and steak were cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend and we will be stopping in again. Thank you again for the great experience! Visited this location a few weeks back. Our server was fantastic and the food was good. Unfortunately, near the end of my meal, I found a sharp, curved piece of plastic at the bottom of my drink. I caught it before taking another sip, but it easily could have caused a serious injury.

From the prompt, genuinely friendly greeting by the hostess to the attentive, courteous server, even the servers around the corner were sincerely concerned about the needs of their patrons…ensuring our needs were attended to in a timely manner!
The food was fresh, tasty, & delivered quick and delicious!

The time was early in the evening at 6:00 pm on a moderately busy night, further adding to the blatant negligence, 9-14-2025.

The manager on duty was also very helpful fixing a problem i had with a coupon.

What great service ! Our waitress Katy and the service assistant Raven were beyond excellent! There timing and ability to work as a team was outstanding! I was certainly impressed! Katy was spot on with making sure we were pleased ! Raven went above her job and dot the “I s”and “Ts” in service! It was a pleasant surprise! I was also impressed with the manager and how she responded from our feedback! Truly my only feedback is some of the tables do not permit enough room for taller and larger men! Thanks for a great experience!

Amazing food and setting. Amazing Nicole the waitress. The steak was cooked to it’s perfection. The cut is delicious and juicy. The price is right on. The atmosphere is calm and happy. Our waitress Nicole was very kind and very attentive. Not sure who to love more the food, the restaurant, or Nicole.
