I’m a big fan of Otto in Portsmouth and recommend it often. I deleted my previous 5 star review hoping to effect two results with this one: drawing attention to a glitch with the Otto Android app, and giving praise to a particular Otto employee.
The Otto app has a nice “reorder” option. I tried using it today to place a takeout order for a salad and 2 pizzas – an order I’ve placed several times before. I selected the reorder option which seemed to duplicate a previous order. I had gift cards I wanted to use to I attempted to apply a card using a card number+ PIN. It took 3-4 attempts before the card was actually accepted, and that’s with cutting and pasting the same numbers each time. At pickup, I was told there was a salad and only one pizza, not two. It became clear to me then, that using “reorder” on the app consistently leaves one of two previously ordered pizzas off the new order. I since tried it several times using different orders in my history and every time one pizza gets left out.
So while at the pickup station, I placed a second order for the missing pizza and waited for it. That’s when I was able to witness a server named Ella in action. She attended to a steady stream of customers picking up orders. She was also tending bar, waiting on tables, and taking phone orders. It is not an exaggeration to say she was doing the work of three. She made trips from the kitchen with takeout food in one hand and pizza for people dining in in the other. She answered phone calls, poured drinks, and reassured a line of takeout customers along the way. She did this all with a polite, upbeat attitude, and a smile.
I hope the app gets fixed, but more importantly, I hope Ella gets recognized if not rewarded for her extraordinary work.

My husband and I took a chance on this location this past Friday and wish we didn’t. $70 for 2 pizzas that were dropped off at the front desk of our hotel with no communication with the front desk staff or information on the boxes. My husband made the order that was linked to his email which he rarely checks but happened to have it open when he got the email saying that the pizzas had been delivered. When he walked down to the front desk, the front desk staff told him that the man just walked inside and put the pizzas down on the counter and left without saying anything. Despite this, when we opened them, they were cold, not room temperature, cold. I wish I could say great things about the flavor but we ordered the veggie Mediterranean and Bacon Pinapple pizzas and after trying both, were both left disappointed and with stomach issues. We also ordered a side of crushed red pepper that was not delivered. The pictures people have taken of their food inside the restaurant look nothing like the pizzas we had delivered.
*** NOTE: While writing this review, my husband informed me that he had already wrote a negative review. He received an email from Nick Bates who wrote a very nice email informing him that he fully refunded us for this order, apologized for our experience, and offered us a free pizza with our next order. To me, this says a lot about their service which I changed my stars (originally I put a 2 star) to a 5. I wish more restaurants held accountability for customer experiences like this manager did which is highly appreciated and again worth pointing out. This email and gesture alone does make my husband and I want to give this place a 2nd chance, especially because other customers’ food pictures and experiences are way better than ours. I will gladly change my stars once we do so. ***

OTTO in Portsmo is a great place to host a gathering! They easily accommodated our party of 12 and because the place has a lively fun vibe I didn’t worry if we were too loud with our celebrating, it was all good! The pizza is AMAZING (I love the meatball crumble and their cheese blend includes Asiago… Yum!) The mgr Nick was VERY kind in responding to my various anxious emails pre-event and everything went smoothly! They also have excellent salads and beverage options. A fun place, delicious food! Great for a special gathering!

Myself and my buddies frequent the happy hour here and we really appreciate our server Madison! She’s always smiling and seems to know what we want before we can order it. Thank you so much, Madison and Otto’s crew. You make us smile with your warm atmosphere and delicious food. Try the squash and bacon pizza. Wicked good!

Great local pizza place! They frequently support causes from local organizations and student led groups. Their pizza is very unique, but also delicious. Note that it can be a bit on the pricier side, but it is definitely worth the cost. Overall, OTTO makes great pizza while supporting local portsmouth organizations!

Excellent, highly recommend and I can’t wait to come back. Great menu, hard to pick because they have great variety & specialty pizza flavors. Quality of food is 10/10. Quickly made & fresh. We got the mashed potatoes pizza & cheese bread at the Portsmouth location.

Otto Pizza is delicious—so good! You have to try this place if you’re in town. Great selection of pizzas, and the gluten-free crust was a big win for our group. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. We’ll absolutely be back.

This is a take-out review for Otto. While I’ve only done take-out here, I felt it was time to give them a review! I’ve ordered delivery on Doordash, probably 5 or 6 times. I always ordered a pizza and loved it, but my one experience in ordering a salad was less than impressive. I thought I’d try to order a salad again, because as you know, sometimes restaurants have an “off” night. But I have to say, my last order was worth a huge shout-out! I ordered a Cobb salad, which was loaded with goodness! Super fresh crisp greens, generous helping of blue cheese and bacon crumbles, fresh veggies, and the dressing were delicious! I also ordered a pepperoni cup pizza and added ricotta (you must try that combo!). The pepperoni were crispy on the edges and partnered with the creamy ricotta it just melted in my mouth!
This is a prime example of giving a restaurant another chance if you’ve had less than stellar food experience prior. I think Otto has settled into the community quite nicely and is offering up a delicious product!
I think next time I order, I’ll stop in and say hi, order a good draft beer, and enjoy the atmosphere!

They had a post-blizzard day special for 10.00 large pizzas which was via a special email to customers! After shoveling all day, we availed ourselves- happily and hungrily. The pizzas were delicious, as always. Thank you!

Looked forward to our reservation at OTTO all week! Their pizza has quickly become one of our favorites in New England. The outdoor dining at the Portsmouth location is the icing on the cake. A quiet area of Portsmouth with a covered patio is the perfect place to knaw on one of their crispy pies. The service was great – they stayed on top of our drink orders.
The menu has a variety of apps, salads, and meat/veggie pies. Our go-to pizza is the pepperoni, goat cheese, and hot honey. The combination hits all the right taste buds and tastes delicious when you eat the leftovers the following day. I need to mention that the drink menu at this location is impressive. We both ordered the pineapple mojito, which blew our minds – one of the best cocktails in the Portsmouth area.
