Was in Chicago for a show and decided on Osteria del Pastaio because we wanted Italian and it was in close proximity to the venue. Made a reservation and got right in. Beautiful atmosphere, very attentive and quick service. Ordered wine and the delicious foccacia. Had a question about the wine I ordered and was met with some amazing wine knowledge and learned about the Italian region where my wine came from. My sister and I both ordered the house made pasta, she ordered the butternut squash ravioli and I ordered the arrabiata. They were both incredible. That ravioli was HUGE and GORGEOUS and also DELICIOUS! The arrabiata was very tasty and just perfectly spicy. I do have to say the this might be the first place that had perfect portions. Although we could have easily eaten 10 lbs of fresh pasta the portion was the perfect size to clean my plate and not feel like I needed to go lie down. This place is a must stop in Chicago. Will definitely be back next time I’m in town

The food was spot on, this was our third visit with my daughter and her partner. The atmosphere was gorgeous. The food runner was absolutely amazing. He also did our pasta in the Parmesan wheel and he was so sweet.
This is where the enjoyment of the employees ended. The woman who waited on us who has waited on us before acted like we shouldn’t be here because we didn’t have enough money or enough class for her. My recommendation ma’am, the next time you decide to be rude to a table maybe you should actually know who they are. I will return, but if she is our server, I will turn around and walk right back out. Thanks Blondie with the glasses.

I had an incredible dining experience! Felix’s service was impeccable, and his recommendations were spot on. The carbonara was absolutely delicious, and every drink and entrée was delightful. Highly recommend this place for a fantastic meal!

Loved the fresh homemade pasta and it was perfectly cooked as well. The standout dish for me was the duck pappadelle- the duck was tender and the flavors were well balanced. I would also recommend their espresso martinis- they’re more on the strong side but the espresso flavor was delicious.
Of course we had to try the viral pasta in a Parmesan wheel and it was creamy and a great show but the truffle flavor got a little overwhelming.
I’d recommend skipping the tiramisu since it was mainly cream and the coffee flavor wasn’t strong enough. The lobster ceviche was fresh but i felt like the mango overpowered everything. Service was friendly and attentive. The ambience is also super romantic so this would be a great date night spot.

My partner and I visited Osteria del Pastaio last weekend after snagging a last-minute reservation. We’re both HUGE foodies and love trying new spots in Chicago, but this place had never been on our radar. It absolutely should have been! Right when we walked in, we both found the ambiance to be warm, cozy, and nostalgic, like a quaint, hometown Italian spot. Our server Kevin was very attentive and welcoming, and our drinks were at the table in no time. We each split two pasta dishes, the Pappardelle don Anatra and the Tortellini di Zucca, then ordered the Veal Scallopini, and finished with the Magic Cake and Passionfruit cheesecake. Everything we had was fantastic, but the Pappardelle was truly out of this world and is now my favorite pasta dish in the city. We had the perfect date night here and we will definitely be back again.

There’s opportunity to improve. The food we had was good, but the experience was interesting. They were out of a few things that really limited joy of thr experience. No chicken, no calamari, no scallops. Waited a long time for my food, king crab ravioli. Maybe the experience would be different if it wasn’t Valentine’s Day, but I was annoyed by the end of the night and once my food finally arrived, I asked for a box and we left. We had a reservation.

I visited Osteria del Pastaio expecting a memorable meal but was left disappointed by the food and pricing. While the ambiance was pleasant (4 stars) and the presentation was refined (4 stars), the flavors simply weren’t there.
I ordered the Fresh Heart of Palm Salad ($21) and the Mille Foglie ($36). Both dishes looked appealing but tasted bland and lacked seasoning. The salad had no brightness or balance, and the chicken in the Mille Foglie was chewy and didn’t seem fresh. Even the Diet Coke was $6.
For context, at Coco Pazzo, a consistently higher-rated Chicago restaurant (4.5 stars on Google compared to 3.9 here), you can get something like their Carciofini (shaved baby artichokes, arugula, lemon oil, Parmesan Reggiano) for just $15, and it’s full of flavor. Osteria’s pricing feels unjustified in comparison.
Bottom line: Great ambiance, decent plating, but overpriced and forgettable food. I wouldn’t return based on this experience.

I love the food here. I’ve been twice with my whole family, once to celebrate Christmas and another time after church, and both experiences were excellent. I love that I get to try so many of their special dishes by sharing and tasting everyone else’s plates. It never disappoints: delicious pasta, rich and flavorful sauces, and perfectly prepared meats. Every visit has been consistently great

We had good time today! Sat outside and was beautiful. The food was great and good size portions. We tried chicken, chicken Alfredo, veal, and lamb chops. All were delicious

The Seafood pasta was great! The flavor and the texture of the pasta was amazing! However, their Gnocchi is way too soft for me, don’t like the texture at all. But the flavor of the beef stew was good.
They sang happy birthday song for a guest’s birthday celebration. One of the staffs was very enthusiastic and whenever he came out, it made me feel like I was in Italy!
They charged for bread and still water.
We didn’t order the bread but they bought them to our table so we thought they were complimentary…
