Reviews
The chef is a true star.
My brother-in-law always says, “If you can read, you can cook.”
And yes, technically, that’s true.
But reading a recipe isn’t the same as caring.
To some, it’s just noodles and cream sauce.
Here, it felt like something more, like each dish was being prepared for his grandmother’s pointed, loving, unforgiving review.
This wasn’t someone following instructions.
This was someone using a kind of kitchen magic, weaving flavors together with the steady hands of a man who knows family is at the table…and that love is measured in every bite.
What caught me off guard were three things.
First, his daughter she, didn’t just take the order she leaned in. She suggested a little more cheese, not as an upsell, but an elevation.
Second, she shared the secret handshake: recommending add just a touch of their chile oil sauce. Not enough to overpower, just enough to wake everything up.
And then came the moment.
That burst of fresh mushroom, earthy, alive, set against the rich, complementary cheese and cream sauce. It wasn’t heavy. It was balanced. The heat from the oil lingered just long enough before the cream folded it back in.
There’s a difference between making food and making something you’d proudly set in front of the people who raised you.
This felt five levels beyond reading.
This felt personal.
Our server ( short haired female) was on top of things. The pizza was perfect, crust and all. It was exactly what we were looking for on our vacation. We only wish we had one of these gems back home!
To start, as they say “first impressions are everything” & wow, upon arrival Lindsey the owner sat us and it took about 15 minutes to approach us, we noticed they were completely understaffed but decided to give it a chance.
Our server (the owner) never gave us a smile or any ounce of friendliness while taking our order, in fact she was short abrasive and offensive with her facial gestures, not even allowing each person to finish their order before moving on to the next; nevertheless we ordered our food and awaited our drinks.
25 minutes later one of our items (tagliatelle with tomato sauce no sausage) was served, she didn’t stop to ask if we wanted Parmesan or any accompaniment, only the rest of your food will be out in a few minutes….
15 minutes later the rest of our food arrived while our pasta went cold and EVERYTHING was Completely awful and underwhelming.
Our wood fired pizza was burnt on top and soggy on the bottle and it was all entirely overpriced. Having lived in Italy, I can definitely vouch and say this was a sad and painful attempt at “authentic Italian food”.
The only redeeming factor would normally be it’s family owned and operated but considering the offensive service we received from the owner herself I am disgusted with the entire experience.
Our bill was about $300 for our table we asked for one item, a soup to he returned and although untouched were still charged.
Extremely upsetting.
Enter at your own risk.
Update: they are now open for dine in food is always great. Can’t wait to try more of their dinner Menu and dessert menu.
I came to eat pizza again, but I was intrigued when I saw the special menu on the table, so I ordered prawn bisque soup, Farfalle paste with spinach pesto & burrata cheese. Rock fish in white wine with lemon & capers. Served with a vegetable. I liked fish meal and pasta was plain taste. There are so many things on the menu that I want to try, it’s hard to choose. I look forward to the next time.
In response to your response…I didn’t get the feeling that you would be gracious with any feedback in the moment given the general demeanor of staff. But receiving/accepting honest reviews about the food and service definitely is part of doing business. I’m sorry, but it just wasn’t a good experience overall.
Did the same thing, heavy late lunch, more like Happy Hour on a nice sunny day.
I am impressed!
Pizza al Tonno was fabulous.
Tagliatelle panna e funghi was decadent.
Shared these two with my wife, and we have leftovers. NOt sure how tuna will fare in the next reheating, but it is worth it. Given
that fish’s habit, just chill it again, and on the even # re-heats the fishy aroma and flavors are subdued.
Sorry I didn’t take any photos.
