Had an outside area to eat where you can bring your dog.
Had a side area with two cows and a calf that was enjoyable to see.
Looking over the menu and there were many things I wanted to try, I finally decided on the Corned Beef Hash and cheese omelette with loaded hash browns. I was pleasantly surprised that the wait for the food was under 15 minutes, as the diner was basically full.
The food came out hot and was awesome. The omelette was loaded with Corned Beef and cheese. The hash browns tasted awesome, I got mine with onions, peppers, cheese and mushrooms. Enjoyed the diner very much, looking forward to going back and trying many other items. The biscuits and gravy that came out to a nearby table looked terrific.
The food itself has come out fresh and fast, and we’ve seriously enjoyed everything we’ve bought so far. We will be back, and I highly recommend you give Osteen Diner a chance if you’ve been curious!
I always thought “this place must be incredible” since every time I have passed by, it is absolutely packed.
Today I had the pleasure of finding out why..
The home cooking, the incredible southern hospitality and overall homey ambience of the Osteen diner completely blows any other diner out of the park (sorry Dennys , you weren’t missed)
Special thanks to Debbie who was phenomenal and recommended some killer options. I had the rice and egg salad sandwich and I will definitely be back.
You can even feed cows! Why are you even still reading, please head on over now! Thanks Osteen Diner!
It was not busy and the waitress came over and took our drink order which was 2 coffees and one water, we got two waters and one coffee.
We then ordered our meal, mine was a corned beef hash omelet with mushrooms (I have ordered these plenty of times and always comment on how much corned beef is in them, my Husband ordered 2 eggs over medium (his eggs arrived over easy) and we both got home fries and toast mine being sourdough (which was white bread). When I got my omelet I looked for the hash and if there was a half a teaspoon on it I was lucky. I showed this to the waitress and was asked “what would you like me to do” she then took it to another waitress that took it to the cook and said loud enough that all could hear it that there was not enough corned beef on it, no need for her to yell I did hear her in the dining room.
When I got my supposedly remade omelet, I could tell that it was the same one that I had sent back. It looked like it had been thrown back on the grill. The waitress said it was a new one but there was no more corned beef hash than before.
I am hoping that this is not a new practice of your and a way to short the customer.
I am very disappointed with the service and the food, I ended up paying for it and taking it home as by this time my husband was done eating. I was told that this is the way they always make the corned beef hash omelets.
As we approached the diner, we saw groups waiting under the loquat trees at the entrance. I added our names to the waitlist and, after about 10-15 minutes, we were seated in the back dining room. The rustic decor included murals and eclectic pictures, though the tables and chairs showed some wear. The room felt warm with the ceiling fans off.
Our server, Kaley, was friendly and attentive. I ordered the Sirloin Steak and Eggs, cooked medium-rare, with my wife and mother-in-law choosing similar dishes but with different preferences for their eggs and steak doneness. Our drinks arrived promptly, and I was pleased with the sweet tea.
We waited about 35-40 minutes for our meals. When they arrived, my steak was overcooked to medium, while my wife’s medium-rare steak was rare in the middle. We swapped plates, but my mother-in-law’s medium-well steak was too tough to eat. The hashbrowns were undercooked and the home fries were overcooked.
Despite noting live music on their website, there was none during our visit, but nearby diners began singing “Wimoweh” loudly, much to the annoyance of others.
My wife brought up the issue with her steak, which Kaley offered to replace, but since we were almost done, she declined. Kaley then suggested a 20% discount, which my wife also declined, simply wanting to explain the overcooking. Later at 12:30, Kaley brought our bill and said it included a 10% discount on our bill, which we accepted. When we finally got back to the car it was 12:45, two hours since we arrived.
Despite this unfortunate experience, I believe it was likely an isolated incident.
My husband ate the other half of my sandwich later on in the day and he was fine…… so again… I guess I gotta try again…. but I really dont wanna….
