Food: I loved it. I’ve been craving fish’n’chips since I had it in Miami, a year and half ago. I doused my Fish in fresh lemon and the provided Heinz Malt Vinegar. It was devine and crispy. As a not fish person I got to enjoy the entreé completely. The ‘chips’ felt pretty strandard as far as fries go. They reminded me or Jack in the Box, but with a little bit extra life. That’s not a knock at all. Then the Hush Puppies, boy do I miss the days of Long John Silvers. Crispy and complimenting. It’s good to have all these things available within a 10 minute drive.
My verdict is this place is absolutely worth trying. It’s kitchy for sure, like a real life Krusty Krab, but delicious. I really want to get their in-house clam chowder in a bread bowl. They do seem busy and possibly understaffed, but what kitchen exists that doesn’t seem hectic with hard working people behind the magic?
The overall buy-in is a little high for what seems like substitute quick fast sea food. But the overall quality and experience makes me want to return and try other menu options. Should I have chosen the Haddock?? Hmmm.
We got 2 orders of the 2 piece cod fish and chips with hush puppies and clam chowder as our sides. We ordered the fish extra crispy, and made 1 plate cajun style for $1 more.
The fish was not very crispy and also not seasoned, and we did not receive the cajun seasoning on one of the plates either.
The hush puppies were tasty but overly salty and oily.
The clam chowder had good flavor, but also had the texture of gelatinized white gravy while being somewhat gritty (almost like sand?). Quite disappointing considering our total was $80.
But honestly, the food isn’t even the main reason I keep coming back—it’s the incredible people, especially the wonderful new owners and staff. Kari is an absolute gem. She greets everyone with the warmest smile and such genuine kindness that it genuinely brightens your whole day. I haven’t experienced such welcoming energy anywhere else in Phoenix.
Kari and the whole team go above and beyond to make Oscar’s feel like a home away from home, always ready to accommodate special requests. As someone with strict dietary needs, I truly appreciate how they consistently get everything right, thanks to Kari and the kitchen staff’s attention to detail.
My family and I visit regularly—partly for Kari’s warmth and partly for the amazing meals you just can’t find anywhere else. She truly adds that special something to every dining experience. Thank you, Kari and the entire Oscar’s team, for always delivering such a wonderful experience.
We ordered one of the cod and shrimp combos with fries (full basket) and an 8oz cup of their daily-made clam chowder. Everything was hot, fresh, and packed with flavor! My daughter had the kids chicken tenders, and she loved them too.
The restaurant has a fun, fast-paced atmosphere, and the energy was great. This place definitely passes the vibe check. If you’re ever in the mood for fish & chips and some of the best clam chowder around, I strongly recommend giving Oscar’s Pier 83 a visit!

Coke products in a to go paper cup. Veteran discounts! Average portions. Prices are what you would expect for seafood. Good atmosphere.
Normally, I would have no hesitation in giving your restaurant a higher rating. However, last night I encountered an issue that left me disappointed, humiliated, and bewildered. At around 7:00 pm, I tried to order delivery through DoorDash (since you close at 8:00 pm), but was surprised to see that the store appeared closed on the app and delivery was unavailable until the next day. Since delivery wasn’t an option, I called in to place a carryout order instead—something less convenient for me at that moment as I was caring for my father and needed the meal.
The staff member who took my call was very pleasant and said my order would be ready in 15 minutes. As mentioned, it was difficult for me to leave right away due to circumstances at home. Out of courtesy, I called about ten minutes before arriving to let staff know I’d be on my way soon and apologized for running late. Tyler was the one I spoke to that time.
I ended up arriving about twenty minutes later than initially planned. When I picked up my order (which cost nearly $41), including a tip as a courtesy—even though there wasn’t table service—I found that all of the food had become ice cold. When I politely asked if anything could be done or if it might be a health concern to serve food that had been sitting out so long, both Carrie (sp?) and Tyler seemed unwilling to help or offer any solution; instead, they placed all responsibility on me since I was late.
While I understand that timing is important—and this situation was not ideal—I’ve worked in food service myself for many years and always went out of my way to ensure customers left satisfied whenever possible. Even when delays occurred on their end or mine, we tried our best to accommodate them within reason.
I fully acknowledge that being late contributed to this issue; however, as a paying customer who values your business and regularly orders from you, it felt discouraging not only to receive cold food but also not be offered any understanding or assistance—especially after explaining my situation.
I felt almost harassed by staff when simply inquiring whether hot food would be available. The interaction left me feeling completely offended, and in the moment, I even said that I didn’t want to return. What was most disheartening was Carrie’s response—she said “okay, fine” in a way that made me feel as though my patronage was not valued.
Despite expressing how long I have been a loyal customer and how unacceptable the situation felt to me, Carrie’s responses came across as uncaring and rude. It truly seemed like she did not care about the value my family and I have placed on your establishment for so many years.
My intention here is not simply to complain but rather to express how much we enjoy your food and how disappointing this experience felt compared with our usual visits. If there’s any way future situations like this could be handled differently—for instance by reheating an order when possible—it would go a long way towards keeping loyal customers happy.
Thank you sincerely for taking the time to read my feedback.
*** I would like to add, that I have NEVER had a problem with staff in the past, as they are usually quite accommodating; however, this instance, with Carrie, was not the case, as she was intent on teaching me a lesson for not being there when she said it would be ready.***
