I’ve been visiting Vista and the greater San Diego / SoCal area for over 40 years, and over that time you start to figure out which Mexican spots are the real deal.
Oscar’s Mexican Food has always been one of our family’s top three go-to places for Mexican when we’re back in town. No particular order — just consistently great food that keeps bringing us back.
The portions are generous, the food is fresh, and everything has that authentic Southern California flavor you hope to find when you’re in North County. It’s the kind of place where you know you’re going to leave full and happy every time.
The employees are always fantastic too — friendly, fast, and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better.
If you’re in Vista trying to decide between Mexican restaurants, Oscar’s is absolutely one you should have on your list.

Five roll tacos one fish taco one carne asada burrito and a large coke for 25 bucks everyone nowadays leaves a review and says the food was good “but…” in this case the food was good and there is no “but” the food was just good. Nothing special to the presentation but then again it’s fast food what do you expect.

Ordered a California burrito asked them to put fries instead of potato chunks in it, they did that but they didn’t put any quacamole or sour cream it was an extremely dry burrito, probably the driest I’ve ever had.

We wanted to have authentic Mexican food so we found Oscars – had a great takeout meal at our AirBB and had so much leftover we made a delicious breakfast with the addition of some scrambled eggs.
